Heroes
My Heroes?
They're not anyone famous, no one whose name has some power amongst others. They are often faceless to the world, but the strength, courage, and wisdom they show every day is beyond measure. They have taught me so much about life, and they are in my heart.
It is said that everyone has a story to tell, but I know that not every story gets told, not every story gets read, not every story gets published. Even then, when the story becomes a book, we quickly judge by cover art and by the dust-jacket synopsis. We judge by the words of critics and spark-noters, we judge not from our own firsthand perspective, because to allow ourselves to face a story in its purest essence is frightening.
My story? It's one that is, and perhaps always will be in the making. I've spread my wings and taken to the world outside of my comfort zone, giving college my best shot and knowing I won't fail if I keep pushing forward. I have a somewhat troubled past, with my own personal hardships, my own trials, but I have learned and grown into what I am today because those trials came.
I have learned many things, including how to live, how to laugh, and how to love. And now I can keep on learning, and just keep defining myself for myself.
