The Lörd Kirby Räy story


I am Kirby Ray who lives in Southeast Missouri . I try to stay as positive as possible, have a deep love of music of all types, family, friends, animals, nature, motorcycles & photography . I am a mix of German, Irish, English, & Cherokee .

My parents first got me a small set of drums in the mid 70's , from there I joined the school band & learned some trombone . In early 1980 I got my first ( Lotus ) acoustic guitar . I got a Gibson SG 1968 Deluxe when I was 15 & at that Time started my first band ... " Sinister " . I have been in many bands since , including : Mid-West, Nude House of Wacky People, Gikk, The Honey Offering, Thought Waves, Magnum Brandor, & The Grimshaws .

I am also guitarist & lead vocalist as well as a founding member of the Missouri based Glam Thrash Metal group , Emaciation . See us on My Space at : www.myspace.com/emaciation

The concept of Emaciation was spawned in early 1996 . Missouri based avant garde rock/metal group Gikk , had started in the early 90's wanted to expand to music of a more extreme nature . Gikk members Kirby Ray, Stu The Immortal Faris, focused on more brutal back to basics songs mixed with modern forms of metal , to regain the magic power . Having grown up on every style of 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's metal hard rock, being a founding member of the band Sinister(US) as guitarist in 1985, Kirby Ray had realized this was his lifelong goal . Also to work on several concepts on aspects of the band from the lyrics to the live show . The songs deal with topics such as the paranormal, historical, & things we deal with a daily life . Starting with very few shows a year going through over 20 member changes, Emaciation has been fortunate to have made many friends in all styles of music .

Live, you'll see the theatrical experience of the show, menacing stage presence, corpse paint, spikes, leather, & swords ! Power, Classical, Old School Metal, Death, Thrash, Black, Glam Rock, Ambient, Gothic, Rock are all influences of the band . Emac prefers to be classified as Thrash Glam Metal .

    85% of the time I do indeed do my own makeup.

      Right now,  I'm hoping to get a certain tattoo artist I'm looking at up there in St Louis to draw it out and find out how much its going to be.  Hannah Aitchinson from the La Ink show isn't taking new clientele. :(  I'm totally psyched.

      Yes, Gaga definitely is hot, very versatile.  Also makes me feel better about myself honestly. :)

    Yeah, I'm definitively getting the album when it gets out Monday! I'm honestly shocked that you like Lady Gaga, is it 'cause shes hot?  lol

     Well, my tat in mind going to be two pinup girls (perceived in a way more
    cute way that sexy) on a swing hanging from branches with cherry
    blossom pedals all over the piece.  A highly colorful piece definitely
    not black and white.  That's the basic idea - the details would probably be yawn worthy.  :)
