Phil Kieran is switching gears again. After three years of almost total dedication to his critically acclaimed Alloy Mental project ( www.myspace.com/alloymental), the Belfast DJ and producer is back to doing what he does best, making his own distinctive brand of dance music. Kieran has dug out the old techno gems , reflected on early influences like Joy Division and Aphex Twin, tipped his hat to newcomers like Marc Houle and Audion, and set to work on producing a catalogue of sure-fire dancefloor killers, for offer over the coming months. Last year Phil brought us ’Skyhook’ on Novamute and hooked up with Cocoon to release ‘I think I’m a monster’. Following both tracks widespread success the German label is also set to unleash ’Missp’ in March 08. Recent remix work includes ‘Hold my hand’ for UNKLE and the upcoming ‘Dancing Bears’ for Roel H, which is set to be massive.
Es ist nun über zwei Jahre her, dass der letzte UpcomingKings Sampler der Reihe an den Start gekommen ist, aber das findet ab sofort ein Ende, da die Tracksuche für Volume 3 gestartet wird. Um die vergangenen Teile der Reihe zu einem Abschluss zu bringen, wurden aus den bereits veröffentlichten 4 Samplern ein "Best of", mit dem Namen "Recall the past" geschmiedet, welches hoffentlich einen kleinen gerechten Überblick über das bisher Geschehene gibt. Es wird viel Freude beim Trackkonsum gewünscht, der etwas in die Jahre gekommenen Musikstücke.

Spielfreude bezeichnet wohl am besten das improvisirte Werk "Extrempore", der beiden virtuosen Ideenschmieden, die hier dem Wahnsinn ihrer Gehirne Freienlauf gelassen haben. Als erstes erwartet euch über eine Halbestunde "Schamhaarsession", wo die betitelnde Thematik mehr als ausgeschöpft wurde. Dies vor allem tiefgreifend und in ausschweifender weise. Der zweite teil der LP besteht aus einzelnen Stücken die aus dem Stehgreif entstanden sind. Wer hier keinen Spaß versteht, ist selber schuld, denn der Ignoranz und Dogmatik wird mit dieser freischöpfenden Liedkunst eine absage erteilt. Wer bis jetzt nicht wusste, was Experimentelle Musik ist, wird hier wohl ein Meisterbeispiel sondergleichen finden, was in Vielfalt und Absurdität seines gleichen sucht. Wir wünschen frohen Hörgenus beim aufmerksamen lauschen dieses ohrenbezaubernden Meisterwerks.
