In the world of horseracing there exists a lone 225-pound jockey. Towering above his peers this jock causes horses at the track to kick and rail upon his arrival. Astonished, the chosen horse enters the starting gate realizing at that instant that this “heavy” jock is effortlessly riding upon its back. The gate opens and this fine thoroughbred laps the other entries with the careful skills of its jockey who has done this so many times before. Victorious, Lord Sassafrass dismounts and is awarded the title.
Jamaica’s love for horseracing and of music runs deep and unobscured. Jamaican dj Lord Sassafrass was the first to popularize a combination between horseracing and Jamaican music. Although he had dreams of being a jockey as a child, Sassafrass never realized his dream at the track, but rather in the dancehall.
The exceptional and most legendary artist, the Lord SASSAFRASS has been in the music business since the 1970's. He has been an asset and an important vessel in the heralding and promoting of the artform called Dancehall. Lord SASSAFRASS has given the world such hits as Pocojump, Hanky Panky, and has stretched the boundaries of his genre of music. He has truly earned the title of pioneer and legend. Lord SASSAFRASS grew up within the town Maverly of Kingston, Jamaica. Lord SASSAFRASS is known as the Original Horseman and his crew was General Trees, Echo Minott, Mikey Melodee and Culture Lee.

Stood all saints, prophets and teachers, Round the throne of our dear King we love. Carved into the wooden door, was the word we seek called PEACE. But when I placed the key into the door, The lock would not release, And then I heard the words, Ill know forever more. You said “Dear child you cannot stand alone and open up that door, Take that key back to the earth, so all may understand, Harmony is the key to peace - throughout my earthly land. Yes harmony is difficult, on no one it carnt depend, it means to meet a stranger, hold his hand and be his friend, accept all people as they are, respect what they believe.
