Lorenzo Maiani was born in the November of 1972.
He begins to play the piano at the age of thirteen and then he obtains the artistic school-leaving certificate. After getting the certificate in theory and sol-fa at the "Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini" of Florence, he starts to study music composition taught by the teacher Franco Cioci.
In the same period he gets the degree in “History of Music” at the faculty of "Arts, Music and Theatre" of Florence, with a degree thesis concerning the “Musical Dramaturgy”.
In the September of 2004 he starts an important collaboration with the musician, songwriter and arranger Goffredo Orlandi. In particular, Lorenzo Maiani participates in the composition and the orchestral arrangement of the song “Nel mondo dei sogni”, written by Goffredo Orlandi and sung by Marco Masini at the Festival di Sanremo in 2005, which is the most important musical kermesse in Italy.
In the spring of 2005, he makes a three months journey to Los Angeles, in order to expand his musical knowledges and to improve his composing skills. Especially, he learns here how to compose movie soundtracks.
In the July and in the August of 2005 he is requested by the "La Fondazione Versiliana Festival" and by the "L.D.M. Comunicazione" as a pianist and a composer. His task here is to organise the whole musical programme of the meetings of the “Incontri al Caffè”. It deals with an artistic and cultural initiative created and directed by Romano Battaglia, at the Parco della Versiliana in Marina di Pietrasanta (Lucca).
In 2006 he returns to the U.S.A. to take part in some important master classes organized by the ASCAP Society with the participation of some world-famous composers and songwriters as: John Debney ("The passion of the Christ" - "Sin City" - "Chicken Little"), John Powell ("The bourne identity" - "Mr and Mrs Smith"), Bruce Broughton (Silverado), Desmond Child ("Livin’la vida loca", Ricky Martin – "Hole in my soul", Aerosmith).
Since 2007 he starts to collaborate on an international scale with the polish singer Gosia Andrzejewicz. In fact he arranges for “Lustro” the song “Zanim Powiesc”, written by Goffredo Orlandi. Then he writes the soundtrack for the short film “Paysages 1”, realised by the Studio Thelenis. The video is selected at "The London International Documentary Festival" and it is shown at the British Museum of London on the 17th of March 2007, the day of the event. He also writes the hit “Milosci Nie Mòv Nie” for "The Best of” album of Gosia Andrzejewicz.
He writes the new hit "Sete" (with M. Borzellino and D. Nincheri) for Appassionante included in their second album "Salve" produced by Chris Neil, producer of Celine Dion, Cher, Marillon (Italian release date: April 24, 2008 - Europe release date: July 25, 2008).
Finally, for the italian version, he writes the lyrics for the new signature tune of the american cartoon "Biker Mice" (Music by G. Orlandi) performed by Antonio Divincenzo on tv since 24th August 2008 on Italia Uno channel.
Lorenzo Maiani has been member of the SIAE (Italian Society of Authors and Editors) since 1999, and he has been member of the ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) since 2007.
Lorenzo Maiani creates the project Studio Thelenis, with his brother Costantino, videomaker. Studio Thelenis creates high quality audio-visual productions, characterized by a great formal care and an original revision of cinematographic and video language: in this way, the crew works on the impressions coming from heterogeneous genres and fields – documentary, classical narrative cinema, video art and video clip – in order to create hybrid products that show, in a new and unusual way, the many different aspects of reality.
Nasce a Firenze nel Novembre del 1972, inizia a studiare pianoforte all’età di 13 anni. Consegue la maturità artistica. Dopo aver ottenuto il diploma di teoria e solfeggio presso il Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini studia composizione, sotto la guida del M° Franco Cioci. Contemporaneamente si laurea in Storia della Musica al DAMS (Discipline dell Arti, Musica & Spettacolo) di Firenze, specializzandosi in Drammaturgia Musicale.
Nel settembre 2004 inizia il sodalizio artistico con Goffredo Orlandi(songwriter, musicista ed arrangiatore) con cui lavora come collaboratore agli arrangiamenti orchestrali per la canzone “Nel mondo dei sogni” cantata da Marco Masini al Festival di San Remo 2005.
Desideroso di espandere la sua cultura musicale, nonché la sua esperienza come compositore, nella primavera del 2005 compie un viaggio di tre mesi a Los Angeles dove inizia a studiare Composizione per musica da film.
Nel Luglio ed Agosto 2005 viene chiamato, in qualità di pianista e compositore, da "La Fondazione Versiliana Festival" e da "L.D.M. Comunicazione" per curare l'impostazione musicale degli “Incontri al caffè” - ideati e condotti da Romano Battaglia - presso il Parco de La Versiliana, Marina di Pietrasanta (LU).
Nel 2006 torna nuovamente negli U.S.A. e partecipa ad Hollywood – LA, ad alcuni master class (organizzati dalla società ASCAP) con compositori e songwriter di fama mondiale quali: John Debney, John Powell, Bruce Broughton, Desmond Child.
Dal 2007 inizia a collaborare, a livello internazionale, con la cantante polacca Gosia Andrzejewicz: per “Lustro” arrangia “Zanim powiesz” – scritta da Goffredo Orlandi.
Compone la soundtrack del cortometraggio "Paysages 1" realizzato e prodotto da Studio Thelenis. Il video viene selezionato al London International Documentary Festival e proiettato al British Museum il 17 marzo, nella giornata unica della manifestazione.
Per il “The best of” di Gosia Andrzejewicz scrive l'inedito "Milosci Nie Mów Nie".
Per Appassionante, firma il singolo "Sete" (con M. Borzellino e D. Nincheri) incluso nel loro secondo album "Salve" prodotto da Chris Neil, produttore di Celine Dion, Cher, Marillion (in uscita per l'Italia il 24 Aprile 2008 - in Europa il 25 Luglio 2008).
Per la versione italiana, firma il testo della nuova sigla del cartoon americano "Biker Mice" (Musica di G. Orlandi) cantata da Antonio Divincenzo, in onda dal 24 Agosto 2008 su Italia Uno.
Scrive, arrangia e produce, in collaborazione con la SBP Production, il brano "Find Your Way" interpretato da Roberta Faccani, voce solista dei Matia Bazar e contenuto nell'album "Online" di Simone Borghi, coinvolgendo anche il chitarrista Frank Gambale per il solo finale. Per lo stesso progetto arrangia il quartetto d'archi dei brani "Try Again" e "Every Night Together" interpretati in duetto da Simone Borghi rispettivamente con Giampiero Ingrassia e Linda.
E’ membro SIAE (Società Italiana degli Autori ed Editori) dal 1999 e membro ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) dal 2007.
Lorenzo Maiani crea il progetto Studio Thelenis, insieme al fratello Costantino, Videomaker. Studio Thelenis realizza audiovisivi di qualità distinti da una profonda cura formale e da un’originale rielaborazione del linguaggio video e cinematografico: in questa direzione, la crew lavora sulle suggestioni provenienti da ambiti e generi eterogenei – il documentario, il cinema narrativo classico, il video d’artista e il videoclip – con l’obiettivo di creare prodotti dalla natura ibrida, che mostrino le ricche sfaccettuture della realtà in modo inedito e inconsueto.
