Writing - I like to journal and have done quite a few short stories...I went through my organic food phase and would like to return to it and make it a permanent part of my life - isn't Dr Pepper organic?...I am doing better on this - my fridge is over 1/2 organic again. I am a great cook! Spanish rice is my specialty...I love to play tennis, but don't get to often enough....I swim everyday in the summer and miss the heat when it's gone...I really enjoy being in or around the water (pool, lake, river, ocean) anytime - wanna go fishing? Too much of my time is spent at work (you know that feeling), but I make up for it by spending lots of time with family and friends that I love so dearly...I have a small, but close circle of friends. Once you become my friend I stick with you - will do just about anything for you. Travel - I love roadtrips...No really, I LOVE roadtrips - but I get to drive!...I got in a short Texas roadtrip last summer, but I feel the urge for another one soon - destination unknown! I am really lacking in the travel department lately...Hoping my next BIG trip is back to Salt Spring Island, BC - I love it up there...I like short drives too. I can get in the car, turn on some good music and JUST DRIVE. Let my hair blow in the wind, sing along (badly) to some good tunes...Oh here's one for you - I LOVE TO WASH DISHES...Can't stand automatic dishwashers...The ones I have had before I ran maybe twice a year - after big parties...Dishwashing is good for the soul - especially if you have a window to look out and day dream through...Try it - you might like it! And yah, I am a sports fan too! Love my Cowboys - I am one of the biggest Jay Novacek fans ever!...And my little brother is named Roger...Can you think of any QBs by that name?...Yah...My Daddy loves the Cowboys too!...Honestly there is just not much I don't like to do...Hiking to happy hour - it's the company that counts! :) And I damn good company haha!
Music
Music is really important to me...It's amazing how many songs I have attached to memories...I can hear a song and be 5, 13, 17, 26 again...When I think of someone I can usually think of a song that reminds me of them...Can't hear Whitesnake without smiling about a guy I liked when I was 14 and I can't hear Guns-n-Roses without thinking about one of the BEST summers of my life - 17 - now that was a good year...I was raised on country and southern rock and probably lean towards artists with that sound, but I like EVERYTHING...I have been to so many concerts - jazz, rock, country - you name it...My favorite artists?...George Strait, CCR, John Mellencamp, Hank and Hank Jr., Tom Petty, Merle Haggard, The Eagles, Patrick McKeone, Waylon Jennings, Pat Green, Lyle Lovett, Van Halen, Love ya Sammy, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Metallica, Eminem, Van Zant, Joe Nichols, The Allman Brothers, Toby Keith, Jimmy Buffett, Steve Earle, Dwight, Tracy Lawrence, Nickelback, Creed, Everclear, Boston, Bad Company, Offspring, Delbert McClinton, Johnny Cash...Not many female artists I really like - usually because too many women try to reinvent themselves too much and their style changes and so does the reason I usually liked them to begin with...But! My opinion has changed when it comes to Miranda Lambert - love that little girl!...Also love acoustic guitar and want to learn to play really bad - anyone want to teach me?..Oh and you all know I love Bo Bice!...Yah, I like that man...My list goes on and on - if I like it I listen - if I don't, I just find something else!...But you just can't beat TEXAS music! It's got a style all it's own! My list goes on and on...
Movies
Dead Poet's Society - very inspiring. Shawshank Redemption - I get sucked into that one everytime TNT shows it...Awesome movie...Slingblade - if you have never seen this movie you need to go get it now - it's a masterpiece...Lonesome Dove...Pretty much anything Billy Bob Thornton, Robert Duvall or Tommy Lee Jones are connected with...TOMBSTONE - ha! "I'm your huckleberry."...Momento - wild movie...Monster's Ball, All The Pretty Horses...And of course - Friday Night Lights! All about my hometown boys! Mojo, baby!...I didn't actually go to Permian, but I kissed a tight-end...Or two. ;) I love John Wayne movies and even Hitchcock...Not really into chick flicks, horror or sci-fi ...I like things more intense, but every now and then I go for something on the soft side...No Country For Old Men is my new favorite - I can watch it over and over again - amazing movie!
Television
I don't have much time for TV, but there are a few shows I try to watch or at least record so I can get to them later...24 is THE BEST show on TV and they really stepped it up last season - I LOVE JACK BAUER!...Gotta have The Office...Survivor is always good and you've gotta love late night Seinfeld...Kinda diggin Top Chef these days...Ahhh - American Idol - Chris wasn't Bo, but he should have gone further, but I am pretty much over that show..If the TV is on it is most likely MSNBC or CMT. History and Discovery Channel are good too - and my son is old enough to understand a lot of that now...So glad I have a child who does not want to sit in front of the TV...I think he likes Court TV way too much though...Hmmm.
Books
For me the Bible is just a given...I was brought up going to Church on a VERY regular basis and still do...I used to devour books one after the other, but spend more time writing now...And not just the blogs you see...One of my favorite books is "The Giving Tree"...It's a children's book, but the lesson can be applied to anyone at anytime in life.
