Lorna Bennett had dreams from an early age of becoming a singing star. Her brother Donovan, now a Medical Doctor and the father of top producer Don Corleon Vendetta Bennett was an avid music collector and exposed Lorna to various types of music. In about 1970, 18 year old Lorna while in Sixth form at Excelsior High School became the female singer along with her sister Kay in the Bare Essentials Band. In 1971, her brother Kenneth Toney Bennett gave her a Dusty Springfield Ballad titled Breakfast in Bed. Lorna took the record to Geoffrey Chung who gave the song a reggae arrangement and the song became a number one on the charts in Jamaica and stayed there for 6 weeks. Lorna then went to Law School at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus in Jamaica and while there released songs including Letter from Miami, Chapel of Love, Run Johnny Run, Stay with You Awhile, Dancing to my Own Heartbeat, and an album titled This is Lorna. Since 1980 she has been practising Law in Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica. Lorna has 2 children, Oje and Leann. Oje is DJ Protoje. (www.protoje.com and www.myspace.com/protoje). He has recently released a single titled ARGUMENTS. Leann has a BSC in Film Making and Video Productions from the Art Institute (Dreamseeker.com) and is presently a first year Law Student at the Faculty of Law at the University of the West Indies. She has recently directed the Music Video for ARGUMENTS. In 2001, Lorna felt the urge to return to music. This led to her performing at Heineken Star Time and shows in Florida and England. She has since completed several recordings for Sly and Robbie, Don Corleon Records, Bobby Digital, Dalton Browne and Lloyd Stanbury. She is presently working on her own productions including a remix of Breakfast in Bed which will feature a DJ. Songs will be chosen from these recordings to create her next Album titled SUSPENDED IN TIME. In 2005 she collaborated with Spragga Benz on a single and a Video Titled HOW U LIKE IT. Her focus in 2009 is to spearhead the musical journey of PROTOJE, who she presently manages.
