BIO: Artist Bio: Lorna Miranda
Lorna Miranda is breaking grounds with a new turn to Spanish rock with hips! By combining her love for dance with Spanish rock, the stage is ready to be lit up with her performance. As she meets with local Fresno artist, Steve Ono, to finalize her demo repertoire, she performs with local Latin Jazz group singing ballads, in local venues. By singing at local venues such as Fagan’s Irish Pub, she is exposing her talent and getting the crowd moving with great Spanish ballads, such as “ Sabor A Mi”.
Lorna was raised with a very well cultured family that always kept
Mexican music close to the ear. Although she was raised in San Diego ,Ca, the American and Mexican culture were always treated and used equally; given the life style of living right at the boarder of Mexico and the U.S. . Watching talent from mexico through weekend family entertainment shows, influenced Lorna through artist like Lucero, Luis Miguel, Thalia, and other artist who would make their debut or appearances on these shows in the Spanish pop genre. Singing at holiday get-togethers was a tradition to the point where she helped organize some Christmas carols with her cousins.
Through out high school she developed dance choreography skills; and was involved in all the school dance shows and assembly skits. Being on stage became second nature for this young artist. Artist such as Laura Pausini really opened up her ear to a wider range of notes. However it wasn’t until senior year in college that she joined a choir and learned to read music. She was part of the National Youth Choir festival in New York, the performance was held in the Lincoln Center after a full week of workshops with different respected directors in the U.S. . In Fresno State University, she enrolled as a Vocal Performance major. She was exposed to performing classical music and there met wonderful professors. She also picked up salsa choreography as well as modern dance.
Making people turn heads, even at local night clubs as well as solo dance performances. She also attended the Cynthia Merrill Performing Arts School, Fresno, CA. She was part of musical plays such as: Annie, “Grace”, Gypsy, “Mazeppa”, Man of La Mancha, West Side Story, Jesus Christ Super Star, and was part of the traveling company. After going through choir, drama, dance choreography, piano lessons, musical theater , community, and public performances the need for a demo became a necessity.
Lorna wrote lyrics to 6 original songs and the music was put by a local violinist, Patrick Contreras, and with the help of Steve Ono the songs are coming to live. Also Patrick Olvera has helped with material as well, Disco Rallado is a sure hit!! The musician who accompany Lorna are young yet serious and dedicated musicians that have their talent to attract all ages.
Lorna is trying to reach people with a positive look towards life, helping them see the “true colors of life, the ones that make life and everyday memorable”. With her wonderful musicians, original lyrics, and rocked out hip choreography Lorna is ready to light up the stage.
