Lorraine Klaasen, is a South African Mbaqanga (Township music) singer who carries the tradition started by some of South Africa's musical giants including Dorothy Masuka, Miriam Makeba, Dolly Rathebe, Mahotella Queens and of course Lorraine's own mother Thandie Klaasen. Lorraine Klaasen has been a fixture on the Montreal, Canada music scene for over two decades. Her latest album "Africa Calling" on Justin Time Records demonstrates the power of an unmistakeable voice of singer who belongs in a league of her own. From the township guitar driven and brain twisting basslines on "Jabulani" to the trance inducing "Imbizo", Lorraine Klaasen shows range that a handiful of artist possess.
