Ruben Vela/Los Dos Gilbertos with Los Cuatro Vientos touch!
Los Cuatro Vientos de Jimmy Bejarano of Fremont, Ohio, have been one of the main fixtures in the Tejano-Conjunto scene in the Midwest for many years. With their stand-out style, they do conjunto their own way, with the combination of a solid conjunto beat, smooth vocals, and expressive accordion playing. The combination of all the above ingredients makes them popular in the conjunto scene. Since 1985, Los Cuatro Vientos have proven to be a crowd favorite at festivals, pay dances, private parties and other places wanting solid, El Valle style conjunto music.
They have been compared to a combination of the Ruben Vela/Los Dos Gilbertos style, and add their own touches to the formula. They admit they have influences, with pride. Each band member has a 100% love of conjunto that comes from the heart. One old timer made the remark, "You can't play conjunto right if you don't feel it."
Los Cuatro Vientos have played many festivals such as LatinoFest, Pontiac Festival, South of the Border Fest, Cruizin in the Park. Festivals in Texas include The Narciso Martinez 16 de Septiembre Fest in San Benito, Texas; The World Series of Conjunto; The Annual Tejano-Conjunto Festival in San Antonio put on by the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center. Big ups to Juan Tejeda....gracias, Carnal! They have played there for the pst 11 years to them and are crowd favorites. They play every March for San Antonio's KEDA 1540 AM's Anniversary Bash. "We feel it is very important to play for them...if it wasn't for KEDA y La Familia Davila, we would not be enjoying the success we have now. They gave us the break by playing our music when no one else would, so its our way of showing the public that we are grateful for all the help and their support. Gracias, KEDA!!!" Los Cuatro Vientos hold the record to this day for the longest ..1 hit on their charts, 17 weeks, with version of the classic bolero "Castigame."
They have performed all through the Midwest in Illinios, Michigan, Ohio, New York, and have made a foothold in the State of Texas. They also enjoy popularity in Kansas, Arizona, New Mexico and California, thanks to Radio Bilingue. You can hear them in San Anto, Corpus Christi, The Valley of Texas, and Monterrey, Nuevo Leon in Mexico.
