Los Langeros hail from Corks hispanic quarter in the sunny south of Ireland and have been kicking up a racket with their giddy-up goat-punk sound down there for the last 2 & a half years. Their line-up represents their musical diversity being comprised of a ragtag mix of Irish, Scottish, and English musicians.
A screeching electric mandolin flanked by two guitar wielding madmen with jews-harp, harmonica, tambourine and outrageous catchy vocals all backed up by a ferocious pounding rhythm section lashing out some of the most intense country music ever. The groove is a punkabilly ska-tinged medley of singalong choruses and distorted 12-string melodies guaranteed to work any crowd into a screaming slobbering mess.
Los Langeros have released 3 cds independently to great critical acclaim and have gigged consistently both at home and in the UK, sharing stages with the likes of Jinx Lennon, Ten Past Seven, Rest, Giveamanakick, Stanley Super 800 and Rulers of the Planet.
They regularly sell out shows in Cork and have won over audiences at festivals such as Electric Picnic, Mantua, Kilkenny Rhythm N' Roots and Spraoi.
They are currently completing recording their new album, 'Normal Voodoo', which is being produced by John Murphy (Ilya K, Katie Kim) and is due out in spring next year.
Cds are on sale in Plugd, Cork and Road Records, Dublin.
Marc Ribot is one of a kind, seen him play with Tom Waits a few years ago in Amsterdam. Got a copy of "Party Intellectuals" singed by all three of em. Gonna go to plugged records for the album in the morning.
