Hello! Welcome to the My Space Film Site for Hector Galan's film, Los Lonely Boys Cottonfields and Crossroads, a feature documentary on the band of brothers from San Angelo in West Texas who against all odds rocked their way to the top of the music industry.
The film was four years in the making and captures a moment in time when the stars finally aligned in Los Lonely Boys' favor after years of struggle and hardship. It weaves a historical and cultural perspective on brothers Henry, JoJo and Ringo Garza, highlighting their Mexican American roots and musical influences.
The Garza brothers come from a long line of working musicians- music has always been a way of life for them. Like work in the cottonfields, music also brought the family a means of survival. The film traces the early days as the young family band cuts its teeth learning from their father as he takes them to play in country bars and Mexican cantinas in and around San Angelo Texas. We travel with them to Nashville where they endure turmoil and heartbreak. These life experiences captured so eloquently by Gal..n's camera reveal a compelling portrait of a young band of brothers who against all odds, break out of poverty and find the American rock n roll dream.
Critically-acclaimed Director/Producer Hector Galan, himself a San Angelo native, fuses exciting live early performances of the band, vivid imagery of West Texas, and intimate personal stories in this feature length film. Los Lonely Boys Cottonfields and Crossroads is a film you won't soon forget. You will laugh, maybe shed a tear or two, and rock with Los Lonely Boys.
Los Lonely Boys Cottonfields and Crossroads had its world premiere screening at the 2006 SXSW Film and Music Festival in Austin, TX. It had a limited indie theatrical run in cities in TX, CA, AZ, NM. NE and NYC. It will have its national PBS television premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 17th at 9:30 pm Eastern and Pacific Time/8:30 pm Central Time.
Thank you myspace friends for your support of this indie made and indie released film from Tejas- and many thanks to Los Lonely Boys and their familia for so openly sharing their true story. It's a story about music, about musicians- and their need to follow the music wherever it leads. It's a story about culture, family ties, stacy adams shoes, west texas, dreaming, and believing. Orale!

"The early live music footage is a joy, but its the quieter, unguarded moments that are priceless: Henry ruminating on creating "my own tortilla" with his guitar solos, for one...Hector Saldana

"...Although the bands improbable rise from humble beginnings is the film's main story line, "Cottonfields" is also a compelling exploration of Mexican American culture, of wearing Stacy Adams shoes to high school when all the other kids are wearing Nike..."
