Just as the men begin their second chance at life one of them is forced to face a new challenge . . . small town fame.
WATCH THE TRAILER:
Lost in Woonsocket is a story of hope, kindness, and the painful reality of human frailty. In 2005, a group of filmmakers from Random1, an A&E show created by John Chester and Andre Miller, began a bold humanitarian experiment as they roamed the country looking for perfect strangers who needed help. Using their good intentions and gut instincts (and some help from their crew in an RV), they would attempt to get things moving in the right direction. In a revealing, behind the scenes look at the process, we are introduced to two homeless alcoholics, Mark and Normand, who live in a tent, literally on the edge of society. Hopeless and out of touch with their families for years, the two nonetheless maintain a strong bond of friendship.
John and Andre break the rules of the show to get Mark into detox, a halfway house, and hopefully -- a life of sobriety. Along the way, simple acts of compassion are met with odd sets of coincidences. We meet a friendly barber who knows the hard truth about what it takes to stay clean. We see the warm sincerity of everyday people reaching out to their family, friends, and neighbors -- offering what they can to make a difference. There are surprises amongst the heartbreak, and a bitter strength in the stories that John and Andre unfold.
There’s even more drama when the series gets cancelled. With many questions left unanswered, it’s back to Woonsocket, Rhode Island to discover what’s become of the two men whose lives were changed by the show. What they find may surprise you, as John and Andre candidly explore how television can change ordinary people. The question remains, did their Good Samaritan ways actually do more harm than good? Up close and unflinching in its raw honesty, there are moments of pathos, humor, and grace. This beautifully shot documentary examines the rush people get from helping one another, the ceaseless struggle against addiction, and the belief that compassion still exists in modern society.

Please check out our new comedic “vampire bankers” music video. The guy who directed this also directed Madonna’s first music vid. We think it’s pretty funny. It’s available as a free mp3 download on http://www.ukejackson.com
Thanks for being our friend! Uke Jackson and the NY Ukulele Ensemble
I just got my DVD in the mail and watched it.....AMAZING!!!. That happens so often one person doesnt make it but they planted the seed for another who flourishes. Recovery is like that, not all who are presented with the opportunity take it. How inspiring
John, to see you again tonight after 17 years was wonderful! To see this work that you have created, and to see that it is such a moving, inspirational and heartfelt piece makes me so proud to call you friend. You have done an amazing job and you are such an amazing person. You've come a long way since the film you took at my 21st birthday at the old house in Baltimore!! ;) Love you to death!! Jeanie
