Bio
David Molina has been creating music and sound for theatre, dance, film, radio, installation, performance art, and multi media productions for the past 15 years . During this time he collaborated and performed with the amazing guitarist and composer Chris Webb (1973-2008) on numerous theatre scores and in bands. They recently won a 2009 LA Ovation Award for their music and sound design for "Lydia" produced the Mark Taper Forum (also produced at Yale Rep) . his current focus is Ghosts and Strings www.myspace.com/ghostsandstrings . Molina is part of the multi media performance troupe Secos Y Mojados (invited artists for Hemispheric Institute's "Encuentros 2007" and 2009 Creative Capital Grantees). It features performance artist Violeta Luna, Visual artist Vistor Cartagena, and long time collaborator, director Roberto Varea. www.secosymojados.net . Currently scoring Cause Collective’s installation at Oakland Museum. Opening May 1st, 2010. www.causecollective.com . 2000 to 2004: engineer and resident artist for the former Drum Machine Museum, in which he performed many concerts with museum owner Mickey Tachibana in the electronic groups Special Patches and Collision Course, and helped produce many concerts which featured artists such as: Kronos Quartet, Joan Jean Renaud, Mark Pistel, and Saul Stokes . Film: Barry Gifford's "Ball Lightning", the "Narc" and "Prospect"by Octavio Solis, and the documentary "The Translation Project" by Niloufar Talebi, the films of Ana Geyer, and the Cause Collective's "Along The Way" (Sundance Film Festival 2008), and documentaries by The Working Group . Molina also heads the experimental, electro-acoustic band Transient which performed at 2005 and 2007 International Loop Festival, the Chapel of Chimes 2005 winter concert, and at various noise shows in SF . Music collaborators: free-jazz musicians Marco Eneidi and George Cremachi, electronic groups La Mente, El Paso, Via 149, Kyron, and CTX . Television and radio KQED, KPFA . His music is available on Resting Bell (Berlin), Dorog Records (Peru), Black Note Music, Mun Discos (Argentina), and soon Nomadic Kids Republic (Japan). -
