Los Vertigos - Live at the Catty Corner Ice House, Houston, Texas, 2009
With group members from as far as Mission, Texas (near the Rio Grande Valley) and Denver, Colorado, Los Vertigos banded together in 2006 to make your head spin and knock you off balance with their personal blend of classic Roots-Rock, Alt. Country, Americana and Tex-Mex.
Los Vertigos place emphasis on performing the music of songwriters and bands from Texas; both rock and country, past and present, which are in the national as well as the local spotlight. Los Vertigos are a “cover band with an edge,” explains vocalist, Rene Silva. “We are proud of our regional cultural and musical roots which sets us apart from the homogenous sounding bands in the rest of the country and defines our identity.” In the last two and a half years, Los Vertigos have entertained for a client base ranging from ice houses to music festivals. They would feel right at home entertaining for your next corporate party, hotel or casino lounge, cruise ship, 501(c)3 non-profit fundraising gala or music venue.
Los Vertigos are also members of the Houston, Texas branch of the American Roots-Rock Coalition (ARRC). The American Roots-Rock Coalition is a grass-roots organization whose mission is to curb the excessive use of midi-sequencing in popular music and through its outreach program, expose today's youth to the virtues of public performance utilizing real analog musical instruments.
Here are just a few of the clients and venues that Los Vertigos performed for in the last three years: Madison High School Class Reunion (Tom Bass Park), Balinese Club, Casino Bar (Galveston), Wayno's, Wet T-Shirt Contest & Crawfish Boil (San Leon), The Chamber of Commerce Jumbo Gumbo Cook-Off (Bacliff), Thanks Bob Festival, Dan Electros (Houston Heights), Pride Houston Festival, Lower Westheimer (Montrose), Bungalo 8 Sports Bar (Highway 6), Cosmos Cafe (Houston Heights), and KPFT 90.1 FM, Houston (in-studio guest performance on the Dead Air Radio Show), Bohemeo's (Houston's newest music venue on the eastside), the Hobbit Hole (I-45 North), the Stag's Head Pub (in Montrose), PJ's Sports Bar (also in Montrose), AJ's Bar B Q & Bar (way up north in Cypress, Texas), the Kemah Boardwalk (Kemah, Texas), at Houston's South By Due East music featival (at Dan Electro's in the Heights), the Republic of Texas Biker Rally at the Travis County Expo & Farigrounds (in Austin, Texas), the "Summer Concert Series" in South Down Park (in scenic Pearland, Texas), the 22nd annual "Watermelon Summer Dance & Social," (at the Last Concert Cafe), the First Annual KPFT Radio Golf Tournament (at Bear Creek Park), the Texas Motion Picture Alliance Holiday Party (at the Pasadena Convention Center), Memo's Sports Bar (in beautiful downtown Pasadena, Texas), and a benefit for the San Jacinto High Rollers (at the Alamo Ice House in Montgomery County.)
