I love to question religion, and though I believe in none of it, it totally fascinates me. | | Music | Tool, Tori Amos, A Perfect Circle, Chris Cornell (before Audioslave), Pearl Jam, Jeff Buckley, Harry Chapin, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Fiona Apple, Damien Rice, Mark Lannegan, Counting Crows, Temple of the Dog, Dog's Eye View, System of a Down, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Hole, L7, Ani DiFranco, Drain S.T.H., Unearth, The Tea Party, Mad Season, Green Day, Silverchair, Eleven, and did I mention Tool Tool Tool? | | Movies | The Shawshank Redemption, Waking Life, The Girl in the Cafe, White Oleander, Good Will Hunting, Wayne's World, Carrie | | Television | House, Shark, South Park, Family Guy, Grey's Anatomy, The Office | | Books | A Language Older Than Words - Derrick Jensen, White Oleander - Janet Fitch, Mists of Avalon - Marion Zimmer Bradley, The Secret Life of Bees - Sue Monk Kidd, The God of Small Things - Arundhati Roy, Back Roads - Tawni O'dell, Lies My Teacher Told Me - James W. Loewen, Couldn't Keep it to Myself: Testimonies from our Imprisoned Sisters - Wally Lamb and the women of York CI, The Long Walk to Freedom - Nelson Mandela, The Secret Garden
The sad thing is, there are all books I read years ago. I've read some books recently, but just haven't been blown away by anything. |

About me:
I'm a writer and esoteric reader currently living on Orcas Island. Check out my blog, Prying Open My Third Eye.
I read tarot, astrology and numerology both in person and over the phone. When I look at birthcharts, along with interpreting each individual planet and its house and sign, I pay special attention to the distribution of elements, and to the North Node. The North Node indicates core persoonality issues, what strengths to build upon and how to avoid potential pitfalls and problems. In tarot, I do a 15-card projection of the coming year called the Golden Dawn, or readings specific to situations, relationships, projects, careers or life paths.
My current writing project is a memoir series about my college years and the "school of life." The first book is called Moonchild and I'll probably post pieces of it here. I am albino. Albinism is a genetic condition that affects 1 in 17,000 Americans and results in little or no pigment, and legal blindness. I think I have an interesting story to tell as a girl growing up in America with a disability and looking different, and experiencing the world in all its anguish and beauty in a very deep way. I want to hold up the experiences to the light and let the reader peer at them very closely, the way I peer closely at everything.
Of the first major draft of the project, my first reader says:
“This is a book about vision (literally and metaphorically), about extreme courage, seeking to make your way and not settling for less, with a musical soundtrack that serves as its own journey, providing clarity and perception along the way.”
