Lou Bradley has become a songwriter and recording artist to be reckoned with in the last couple of years. From relative obscurity, Lou has managed to gain the sort of critical acclaim and respect that many established artists strive for.
First in 2005 with a great kick start grant offered by the Jbseed, which then lead to the release of her debut album “Love Someone”, subsequently earning her finalist positions in both the ARIA and CMAA “Golden Guitar” awards in 2007 along with favourable reviews in major newspapers.
Keeping her all original album independent from any major label, Lou performed and toured her debut album extensively across Australia with artists like Troy Casser- Daley, Paul Greene and also played many major festivals
Her second all original album has just been completed and is again due for independent release mid 2009. Produced by award winning and critically acclaimed, Shane Nicholson, it showcases Lou’s prodigious talents as a lyricist and melodist whilst it manages to maintain a balance of emotional intensity and a unique philosophical outlook that seems to be essential to her work. As the first album does, every song stands proudly as a lovingly crafted piece, as she deals with subjects ranging from the somewhat abstract to the ‘everyday’, with a uniquely “Lou” perspective.
The album successfully traverses a range of musical landscapes from Lou’s popular/rock background in her childhood to genuine mountain music that is influenced directly by her surroundings where she lives in hinterland Byron Bay northern N.S.W.
Lou’s music has been compared to the likes of Alison Krauss and Sara Storer and brings to mind such great story tellers as Paul Kelly and Carol King and it certainly belongs in the domain where music best serves and satisfies the soul.
We hear the music, we express our soul, we create the songs for our magnificent journey called life. Thank you for your friendship, its a great to share our journey with you. Sending love and infinite blessings of joy. Love Bart & Jody
