MUSIC, live concerts, local Twin Cities bands, photography, Canon SLR cameras, coveting new photography equipment, all that is Bruce Springsteen, Jersey Shore musical uprising of yesteryear, Philly bands, dachshunds, laughing at little dogs dressed up in human clothing, late night music infomercials, being inappropriate, people watching, staring at water, Barcelona, Hootenanies in Sexy South Minneapolis, dancing aka shaking my ass, theatre, traveling, NYC, going out to eat, ethnic food, coffee drinks, sleeping naked, cracking my back, cracking your back, massages, being outdoors, the color red, keeping healthy, swing sets, funky clothes, polka dots, black and white stripes, leggings and leg-warmers, giant accessories, make-up, experimenting with my look (cheaply,) writing, OBSESSION.
It all begun with Bruce Springsteen. BRUUUUUUUCE! I LOVE rock n' roll!!!! Marah, Jason, Isbell, Drive-By Truckers, Social Distortion, Lucero, Josh Ritter, The Hold Steady, Uncle Tupelo, Jesse Malin, Green Day, Buddy Holly, slow Elvis, Billy Bragg, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond, Langhorne Slim, Neil Young, REM, The Jayhawks, The Byrds, The Replacements, Voxtrot, Son Volt, JoAnna James, Trampled by Turtles, Stook!, Little Man, Mark Mallman, Kid Dakota, Cloud Cult, City on the Make, MC/VL, M.anifest...rushing home to see what The Current was just playing...getting all up in your stuff with hip hop like Atmosphere or Heiruspecs and even occasionally that embarrassing crap they play on 96.3...my voice screaming down the boulevard as I howl to my beloved karaoke...always listening for a new band or a new song to make a new mix CD that I can blare in my 96 Honda whose name just happens to be "Brucie." My life comes full circle.
Movies
Anne of Green Gables (for the sake of nostalgia,) random documentaries (thank god for netflix!), High Fidelity, Sideways, School of Rock, and many a guilty pleasure. I grew up watching Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, which greatly explains my childhood. Secretary is hot. Real hot. Once inspires me. Juno was just rad!
Television
Sex and the City, West Wing, Arrested Development, Strangers with Candy, Weeds, The Daily Show, 24, America's Next Top Model, Project Runway, The Office, SYTYCD, Six Feet Under, late night HBO (I used to stay up until 3am just to catch a peek)... And here is the most fantastic moment ever captured on film, the greatest commercial of all time...

Books
Chuck Klosterman & Nick Hornby, Edward Albee & Sam Shepard, David Sedaris, The New Yorker, US Weekly (my guiltiest of guilty pleasures), bathroom stalls in dive bars and music venues. The Shadow of the Wind...the joy of Barcelona thrives as I read, slowly and sporatically, so the joy never ends.

About me: I'm enthusiastic. I'm passionate. I'm busy. All the time. I stay up way too late and am never home. I love live music. I love taking pictures with my Canon. Especially of those who play the sh*t out of their instrument. I love learning how to become a better photographer. I love writing. I love dancing. I love wiener dogs. I love performing. I grew up in theatre. I was once a Burlesque lassie named Tipsy St. Swingsteen. Tipsy will reappear. Tipsy will live on forever. I rarely drink alcohol but don't need it to be wild and crazy. I go to bars to be with friends, drink water or pop, and freak people out with my karaoke. I sleep on a couch. I laugh loudly and my whole body shakes. Plus I will make some of the most inappropriate jokes you've ever heard. Ever. Check out my rambles (alexaistotallyobsessed.blogspot.com) and my photography (www.flickr.com/photos/loud_alexa/).
To bands interested in using my pictures for whatever reason: I'll more than likely happily agree, just please ALWAYS give me credit.
Who I'd like to meet: I'd like to have one (or a million) conversations with Bruce. I'd like to meet anyone who wants me to take their photos. I'd also like to hang out with Bob Saget for a day and travel around the world MANY times over with Anthony Bourdain.
I just wanted to stop by to say hello and give you a little update on what Blood Root Mother is up to! We will be recording an EP of new music in August, and we recently finished recording a live DVD. The DVD is currently unreleased and I actually just saw it for the first time yesterday. It features the last two performances with Tony Ellis still alive, and some footage from the tribute show we played on the night of his funeral.
There are some cool covers, as well as some NEW music that will be on our upcoming EP. We're very excited about the new music and we'd like to share a sneak peak with you. Here's a video of a tune called Run Bobby Run:
Blood Root Mother will be playing at Trocaderos in Minneapolis on Friday, June 26th. I cannot stress enough how awesome this show will be. We're playing with three of the sweetest local rock bands: Claret, Niobium and Casanatra. If you haven't heard these guys, check them out immediately! Please come to this show!!
I recommend coming during happy hour for two for one drinks along with free buffet, which is delicious. We'll be hanging out at Trocs all night, so come by and chill/party with us :)
Please come out and support some great local music! Music starts at 9:30pm and we should go on around midnight. Invite your friends, pile into a car (or a party bus), and together we will make this one of the highlights of the summer :)
We appreciate that you're doing your own thing and glad that you're our friend!
I wanted to share an insight that I had recently. Blood Root Mother really believe in the power of music. Genuine music transcends all limitations and boundaries, and happens when musicians and listeners are communicating with one another on the deepest level possible. In a society overcome by an obsession with flashy images and stale radio hits, we seek to do something that shakes the foundation of the status quo. Since the dawn of human civilization, music has been about sharing humanity and truly connecting with others. So stay connected with us, and join us on our journey.
Peace, Elliot
The artistic activity does not lie in art itself as such. It penetrates into a deeper world in which all art forms flow together, and in which the harmony of soul and cosmos in the nothing has its outcome in reality. -Bruce Lee
