Louder than Words is a funk/rock/soul jam band composed of members associated with the UCLA music department. On lead vocals is ethnomusicology major Alexandra Isley, (yes, in relation to the Isley Brothers) whose strong lyrics and distinctive voice fuels the band's energy. On lead guitar is Alex Greve, an applied math major whose showmanship and shredding earned him a standing ovation at the Sapporo Jazz Festival in Japan in 2008. On Trumpet is Ryan Svendsen, a music performance major who has played with Grammy award winning/nominated artists such as Herbie Hancock, Ryan Shaw, and Robert Randolph and the Family band. On piano is Mike Greenwood, an ethnomusicology student who has won numerous awards including "best soloist" at the Reno Jazz festival and was a finalist for the Dave Brubeck Jazz Fellowship. Colin Gordon, also an ethnomusicology student, is a creative and innovative drummer whose producing skills have brought him recognition throughout the LA music scene. Jake Geier, a psychobiology major, is the backbone of the band, providing a mean beat to all of the band's grooves. Jesse Sachs, a WAC major, is our MC/rhythm guitar player whose electric performances hype up the crowd and create an unforgettable experience.
We are Louder than Words.
