"With your poems (and I hope you take this the right way) there's a kind of naivety which I find really attractive." -James Harris
Louise Halvardsson's debut novel "Punkindustriell Hårdrockare Med Attityd" was published in Sweden by Författarhuset in September 2007. It won the Author Society's Award "Slangbellan" - the prize for Best Newcomer in Young Peoples' Fiction.
"IF YOU STEP ON HER SHE CRACKS, IF YOU SMILE AT HER SHE MELTS ... "
Lou Ice was born in Nässjö, Sweden on a cold winter's day in 1982.
When she was old enough she escaped her beautiful but boring home town
to experience life and love in Brighton. To get a break from the lonely process of writing her novel - about the woes of a teenage girl - she tried her luck as a poet.
From late 2004 to 2008 she was a regular guest at the open mic night at the Sanctuary Cella, arranged by Brighton Poetry Society. You could catch her at events such as Raw, Word Play, Hammer&Tongue, All arts fiesta, Horseplay, Poetry Marathon and the summer festivals, performing on her own or with her band The Writing Sisters Collective.
She has also been on stage in London, Edinburgh, Stockholm and Berlin.
Louise "Lou Ice" Halvardsson has just returned from New Zealand, where she spent five months travelling, writing and working at a hostel. She is currently fine-tuning her second novel, "Replacing Angel", and this time her choice of language is English. She is also interested in a translation of "Punkindustriell hårdrockare med attityd" and is looking for an agent.
Look out for Lou Ice at poetry events in Brighton. She wants to return to the stage and "throw her poems on people" as the promoter Sean Creed once said ...
