Louise Against The Elements formed as a collaboration between singer/songwriter Louise Hendry and a reclusive heavy instrumental combo known as The Elements. With a hastily agreed mission plan to rid the world of grey indie navel-gazing, they rightly concluded that female-fronted pop attitude was the order of the day.
They've been quick to impress their peers, playing with other Glasgow stalwarts such as Zoey Van Goey and Popup, and blagging support slots with visiting luminaries like Duffy and V V Brown. Most recently, they have had airplay from Jim Gellatly on XFM and are recurring favourites on air3radio.com (Scotland's premier student radio station).
THE LIST: '...It's the raw garage power of Courtney Love and fellow Glaswegian, Shirley Manson, that drives a band making a noise in as sassy and sexy way as possible. And though The Elements keep it altogether with homebrewed blues, it's front-woman Louise Reed whose prowl and purr gives this band an appeal beyond their peers. She may well turn out to be Glasgow's very own Debbie Harry...' (see blog for full review)
DAILY RECORD: '..."Baby Blue" could be Annie Lennox's pre-Eurythmics band The Tourists as it shimmies to a rock'n'roll rhythm... "Fortune Man" is another mesmerising tune... It seems in Scotland, the ladies are leading the way.' (see blog for full review)
WWW.BLUESBUNNY.COM: '..."On a Saturday Night" exudes attitude. "Rollin' in Honey" is delivered in a manner so cool that it would chill your beer... Musically, this band has got it made and in Louise Hendry they also have an entrancing and charismatic front person. Definitely a tip for the top...' (see blog for full review)
FALKIRK HERALD: 'When Louise Hendry goes wild fronting The Elements she's, well ... in her element. The 23-year-old Falkirk vocalist is becoming a familiar sight and sound on the Glasgow music scene and when you catch a Louise Against the Elements gig you certainly won't forget her in a hurry...(the band are) a highly creative songwriting team - a match made in rock and pop heaven...' (see blog for full review)
The band's self-produced debut EP is available now on cd for a very reasonable price. You'll see them waving copies around at all their gigs. The single BABY BLUE b/w SINFUL will be out in Spring 2009 on Metropolicana.
Earlier this year, the band took over Air3Radio's Scott and Joe Show, with some chat, some jokes, some songs and some biscuits. You can hear an excerpt above, or subscribe to the podcast at www.scottandjoeshow.co.uk for the full unexpurgated experience.
And if you like to watch... AirTV interviewed the band at a gig in Glasgow's west end in March 2009... This is the result...

Good job on Saturday chaps and chappette, you delivered some hefty tunage in a slick and stylish fashion. Being slick and stylish myself, i thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thanks for the friendship, i've seen you twice at the great big property gigs and thought you were excellent, great tunes, great sound and a great voice.
Just to let you know that we are playing at T in the Park (T break stage) this year on the sunday! I was just wandering if you are going to the festival and if you'd like to come and see our live show. We would really appreciate the support. It's going to be like a trip to the zoo. Type us a short poem or quote.
