At the start of the 21st Century, the Democratic Party can look back on a proud history — a history not just of a political organization but of a national vision. It is a vision based on the strength and power of millions of economically empowered, socially diverse and politically active Americans. Over two hundred years ago, our Party's founders decided that wealth and social status were not an entitlement to rule. They believed that wisdom and compassion could be found within every individual and a stable government must be built upon a broad popular base.

We constantly hear in Louisiana politics today, the need for political change, a new style of politics. My fellow citizens, the question is what type of political process are we going to participate in, where we vote for a candidate for Governor, just because he is the guy who lost to the Governor you are not satisfied with.
I see the signs and the bumper stickers emerging here in Lafayette and around Louisiana and I wonder, “Have they even looked at this guy’s record, what he stands for, what he’s done and have they even considered anyone else?” I truly believe that the answer is sadly, NO!
Bobby Jindal has used this state for his own personal agenda; he doesn’t care about Louisiana. He has never succeeded at or completed a job he’s been given. He lost the Governor’s race in ’03 and moved to a new Congressional District to run for office. Since that time he has spent little time in his own district, he has instead been crisscrossing the state into other districts and not for strong Congressional action on the issues, but so that he could be given the keys to the Governor’s mansion in 2007. Jindal never wanted to be elected to Congress that’s why he’s ranked 432 out of the 435 Representatives in the House in influence. We don’t hear him running ads talking about his accomplished congressional record, because there is none. It’s because he didn’t want that job; he has used the people of his Congressional District and the people of this state for his own political ambitions.
We need to wake up Louisiana! Bobby Jindal says that he will complete a full term as Governor if elected, but given his record what are we to believe. How do we know that he is not using us again to get into the Senate or to launch a presidential bid? The fact is that we need to get involved in our elections, that is why we keep the same old politics in Louisiana, because many do not vet our candidates and get real perspectives on the issues. I challe

"Jindal represents the right-wing onslaught that targets the working people of this country, and those who are immigrants among them. I'm not one of those who harped on about Jindal's conversion or about what a nice guy he his: all this is irrelevant to our lives. What is relevant is that Jindal represents the racially entrenched wealth that is in power: he is a shill for the supremacy of congealed wealth."
