Louisiana Red (born Iverson Minter) started his music career early, recording for Chess around the age of 13. By the late 50s, after a stint in the Army, he was back in the biz gigging with the likes of John Lee Hooker. John Lee, and other blues legends that worked with Red - B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Lightnin' Hopkins, Elmore James - all had a significant influence on him but Red certainly developed his own style. One of the few living original purveyors of Delta blues, Red channels his influences into a sound that is improvisational at times yet intense - expressing his feelings of the moment - drawing the listener in to his earnest and sometimes vulnerable world. Almost 20 years ago Louisiana Red moved to Germany. In 1983, he was awarded the W.C. Handy Award for Best Traditional Blues Artist. In the past 10 years, he has returned to the U.S. every summer for a successful tour of blues festivals and select club dates. since 2005 he has been teaming up with
singer, producer, guitar and harmonica player Little Victor and his combo.
They recorded an outstanding album called "Back To The Black Bayou" released worldwide by Ruf Records. The CD features Kim Wilson of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Bob Corritore, Dave Maxwell and other special guests.
This CD won the "German Record Critics Award"in 2009 and dozens of rare reviews form all over the world.
Hello Red, I just wanna say how honored i feel to be sharing the stage with you once again. I look forward to our meeting at the Merlin, Stuttgart on the 11th of November. For me this day is always in my memory . Its armistice day. The day that ended the first world war. The war that would end all wars.
Thanks for supporting our Troops! I appreciate it and I know our Troops appreciate it.
