Louis Ribeiro is a South African singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is known by fans, both as a member of the band Zeebra and as a solo artist. In the world of categorization, definition and labeling, no limiting style name suffices to describe the recording artistry of Louis Ribeiro. A vocalist and guitarist that writes and arranges most of his own music, he's had successes over his twenty-five year recording career.
Ribeiro's canvass is expansive as he masterfully dips his brush into vibrant hues of Africano, gospel, rock/pop, reggae and World Music colourings.
Louis Ribeiro's music has carried him far across the waters from his homeland in Durban, South Africa to the UK. And prior to leaving South Africa, Ribeiro was nominated for (and subsequently awarded) the South African national equivalent of the American Grammy's - The Sarie. When in his homeland of South Africa he was signed to Mountain Records. Whilst there he became good friends with a fellow South African signed to the same label by the name of Jonathan Butler. They became good friends and wrote two albums together.
When Louis came to the UK he was swiftly signed up by Bridge Records. During late 95 with the guidance of Elton John's then drummer Charlie Morgan and Andrew Brel, Louis recorded another album entitled "Under African Skies" which was by all accounts an autobiography of his life. In 2006, a song from that album, 'Woza Mamma Afrika' won an award for 'Best African Song' in the Just Plain Folks annual song contest in California, USA.
"Harvest" is Louis' latest release, a thought provoking, tantalizing mix of styles, colours and rhythms. The spirit of Africa, particularly SA, with its beautiful rainbow nation, lives on in people like Louis Rebeiro. Long may he continue to write and perform such jewels for us to enjoy.

Rest in peace, Louis. I will always remember you as a kind, funny, thoughtful personality. Someone who always looked on the positive side of life. I helped Louis in the final stages of making his album and it was a real pleasure to work with him. A rare talent!
Hi Louis, still enjoying "Harvest" very much. I took the album on holiday to the Med with me recently for some great sunkissed listening - thank you for providing that!
Hi Louis, thank you for adding me, there are some lovely tracks on "Harvest" and I've been using "Just Enough" as my own MySpace song. Best wishes to you.
