We know, it's hard to be humble when you have the greatest pet on earth -so here's your chance to show off your adorable friend to thousands! Following the lead of a number of other Walks, this year we've added a fun component to our event! Pet Walk is a great way to get involved with Louisville AIDS Walk and have fun with your other family member. Your pet can enjoy the outdoors; you have fun while raising funds for a worthwhile cause. We'll have a special check-in area at the Pet Registration Booth on the day of the Walk and there will be special water stations and shaded areas along the route for your pets too.
The Pet Walk is just a new feature of our event. Pets and owners will also gather at the Belvedere and walk with other AIDS Walk participants on Sunday, September 13, 2009. Pets and owners will follow the same route and the Pet Walk begins at the same time as the 17th Annual Louisville AIDS Walk: 3:00pm. There is no cost to participate in the Pet Walk or AIDS Walk. Register online and begin your fundraising just as you would if you were registering as a Walker or Runner. Fundraising is easy with our fast and secure online donation service.
You can create your own webpage easily, write a little bio about your efforts, and upload a picture of you and your pet. Who can say NO to a picture of a pet?
When you add that with a terrific cause like Louisville AIDS Walk all your friends and family will want to help out.
Start collecting sponsor pledges for your pet and have fun! We encourage you to be as creative as you want. Owners can bring wagons, carts or strollers for their pets to ride in or dress-up their pets in costumes. You're sure to get a lot of pictures taken by participants who enjoy looking at pets.
Plus, the top three pets raising the most funds will be awarded their First Place, Second Place and Third Place Awards and Prizes on Walk Day.

About me: Please join us for the 17th Anniversary Louisville AIDS Walk on Sunday, September 13, 2009. Opening Ceremonies begin on the Belvedere at 1:00pm with food, beverages, live entertainment, special guests, onsite reigstration, team photos and a KidZone. Our 5K Run begins at 2:00pm for only a $20 registration fee. The Pet Walk and our 17th Annual AIDS Walk begin at 3:00pm and are free to participate. Over 6,000 people participated in last year's Walk. We raised over $196,000 for direct services for our neighbors who are living with HIV/AIDS! Thank you to all of our supporters!

Since 1993, the Louisville AIDS Walk has supported programs serving thousands of people in this community. Those funds have improved the quality of life for individuals affected by the HIV virus. The Walk is made possible each year by the efforts of hundreds of volunteers under the oversight of the AIDS Services Center Coalition, a local, not-for-profit organization dedicated to AIDS services and education.
The proceeds from each year's Walk are allocated to a diverse group of organizations based on their requests for funding for vital, direct, hands on services administered by their agencies like medical care, food, housing, counseling, transportation to and from appointments, case management, legal assistance, support groups, emergency financial assistance and educational workshops for local people who are struggling with HIV.
Supporting the Louisville AIDS Walk ensures that local HIV/AIDS services remain available to people living with the HIV virus. Since it's founding in 1993, Louisville AIDS Walk has had an overall averaged expense rate of only 11%. Last year we cut the event production budget and relied on our tremendous volunteers to even more money goes to direct client services. We are a 501(c)3 Public Charity so all donations are tax deductible. Our organization, officially AIDS Services Center Coalition doing business as Louisville AIDS Walk, was recently reviewed by the Better Business Bureau's Charity Review Service. We are proud to report that the BBB has determined that we meet all 20 of the BBB Wise Giving Alliance's Standards for Charity Accountability.
