Lounge Lizards perform the classic songs of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Nina Simone and Astrud Gilberto.
SEE GIGS PAGE AT www.loungelizards.co.uk FOR ALL GIGS LISTINGS!! Karen and Andy started performing together as a duo in February 2005 and haven't looked back! Now performing regularly in and around Sheffield and expanding their horizons more and more, their reputation is gaining momentum as their passion for the music they play increases with every gig. With an almost uncanny (and sometimes scary...) ability to come up with the same ideas at any one time, their obvious musical connection and compatability shines through their performances.
Karen's voice is rich, sultry and evocative. Andy plays in the style of Freddie Green, Jim Hall and Wes Montgomery. From velvet ballads that bring a lump to your throat and a tear to your eye such as "Someone To Watch Over Me" and "Misty", through more foot-tapping classics such as "My Baby Just Cares For Me" and "The Girl From Ipanema", to powerful belters "Feeling Good" and "Stop!" Lounge Lizards aim to surprise and delight their audience with an ever expanding and mood changing repertoire. Lounge Lizards also play as a quintet with the very talented Wendy Kirkland on piano, Paul Gray on bass and Ian Beestin on drums. Listen to "Let Me In" written by Karen and Andy and performed by the band on the sample tracks at the top of this page.

Ben Waters brings his band to sheffield on 23 February. Venue : The Foyer at The University of Sheffield.Call 0114 222 8999 for tickets and details. Ben plays in the Jools Holland style – no nonsense serious boogie woogie. Indeed Jools Holland features on Ben Water’s new album “Shakin’ in the Makin”. Influenced by some of the finest pianists in the world, Ben initially bit the bait of Boogie Woogie and pianists like Albert Ammonns and Meade Lux Lewis created a desire to own a piano. Then the New Orleans bug struck, and the likes of Professor Longhair and Dr John glued him to the piano stool for hours. Ben mixes Boogie woogie, Hot New Orleans Blues with some good old rock & roll!
