About me: Hallo there. The name's Hannay. Richard Hannay, and it's jolly nice to make your aquaintance. A chap I met at a racecourse offered to help me set up this interweb myspace thingummy, assuring me it was as essential to the modern gentleman as the calling card. Well, we shall see.
Anyway, about me? Well, where do I begin? I'm thirty-seven years old, sound in wind and limb, and currently residing in rather a dull little rented flat in WC1 (Portland place, actually.) I recently got into a spot of bother with the police, owing to the fact that a woman was found murdered in the aforementioned flat, killed by foreign spies. I found myself on the run and in Scotland, chased by police and on the run from enemy agents, handcuffed to a total stranger (although a dashed attractive one,) surviving on my wits; you know, the old heart racing and the blood singing and, well, frankly, to be quite frank, it's jolly tiresome to have to tell you all this when there is a perfectly marvelous stage adaptation of my adventure in London's glittering West End. Apparently inspired by Mr Hitchcock's motion picture, they are somehow able to pull it off with a cast of four actors! Why don't you pop along to see it? Perhaps I'll see you in the bar; mine's a scotch and soda by the way.
Who I'd like to meet: Icy Blondes
Mr Alfred Hitchcock made a motion picture about my escapades, which, not to blow one's own trumpet, became the most successful film of the pre-war period. You can watch a film about it below, but I must warn you, it may spoil certain key points in the plot when you come and see the Olivier Award winning West End show, The 39 Steps. You can book your tickets online by clicking here. The 39 Steps
Whatho and thanks for the add, you'll be pleased to know I kept up your traditions in the 1960s until some dreadful nemesis tranported me to the present! I doff my cap to you sir, watch out for fifth columnists!
