!----START CUSTOM CONTENT BLOCK 1----! Born in Brooklyn , New York to West Indian parents, an aspiring musician father (playing drums, and keyboard) and a business oriented mother, Danielle was exposed to a wide range of soulful music. Early into her childhood, her father was a DJ for family gatherings, birthdays and house parties exposing her to various genres of music such as reggae and Soca to Soul to Rhythm and Blues. In the early 1990's, her mother and father separated, and as a result, Danielle, her four older sisters, younger brother and mother relocated to a small town out side the capitol city of North Carolina , Garner. It was around this time Danielle frequented southern Baptist churches and became influenced by the vocal choirs. At the age of 8 she joined a choir, but her church singing career was short lived due to her family discontinuing attendance. In 8th grade, a choral director took interest in her, and urge her to join the choir, being open minded to the opportunity, and vocally immature, she quickly joined, continuing her choral career through High School. A traumatic experience at 14, led Danielle to take her writing more seriously, remaining secluded from popular saocial groups and taking more introverted interest in honing her craft of hip hop and improving her vocal skills. At 17 Danielle was introduced to Xtreme1 Productions, and began recording with the small and independent label in Cary NC. The hours, though tedious, after nine months became an unsuccessful pursuit and at the age of 18, Danielle relocated to Boston Massachusetts to finish her senior year of high school, where she had learned to play guitar and had the opportunity to play and be taught the piano for the first time. She continued education at the New England Institute of Art as an Audio Research Major before returning back to North Carolina in the spring of 2005. While in attendance her recording and distinctive sound had begun to develop, working with bands on campus and up coming producers in home studios and performing for college organizations where requested. In 2005, Danielle Blaiq returned to NC and within months linked up with a local group Southern Authentic (SoAu) as a replacement to a former member. The group consisted of Terry “Eville” Coleman, Cedeno “Gats” Gatlin, and herself. Though promising and well anticipated, the group chemistry failed to be a success and on good terms, the group disbanded, leaving the two front men to continue the group. Danielle D.
