Music
I like music of any genre that inspires the mind to escape the mundane. Music that speaks truth to power, challenges what we have been conditioned to think. A lot of classic rock did this. Some "alternative" music did this. Some contemporary hip hop does this. A lot of underground and independent artists still do this. I'm raging against the machine, and I appreciate music that provides an appropriate soundtrack. (I wasn't going to plug any bands by name, but oh well... Rage's music may be 15 years old but was clearly written for today).
Movies
The first Matrix movie was the quintessential movie that broke the paradigm. A Scanner Darkly hit the nail on the head. V For Vendetta knocked it out of the park. As much as the Star Wars prequels have been panned, they do one thing well - illustrate how a republic can collapse into despotism while "freedom is lost to thunderous applause."
Television
TV has pretty much gone down the sh*thole since the advent of "reality TV", though "Beauty and the Geek" was a noteable exception in that genre--worth watching by simple virtue of presenting the way things should be. I never miss "Freedom Watch" with Judge Napolitano (no relation to that psycho head of DHS), though it hasn't made it from the web to live TV yet. Likewise I try to catch it whenever Ron Paul is on... TG for Youtube. And yes, there are few oldies like Smallville and Supernatural that I still watch when I want an escape.
Anyone who has ever had the courage to stand up against the status quo, to go against the grain and make a real difference. Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr. for example. Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, and Alex Jones for the modern day.

Please read this it is so very important. President Obama will come to the event to address our issues if we can get one hundred thousand plays on our video for advertisement. Please help us out. Too many children have had to suffer. Comment the video as well to let him know how important this issue is.
