Love & Electrik are like an explosion of flashing lights and glassy sound. Welcome to their universe where vintage synthesizers, vocoders & talkbox coexist with a voice that has a timeless soul. Together their music takes you to a familiar past: the groove of Nu Shooz to the dripping sex appeal of Minneapolis Funk, the dance vibes of 80's Freestyle music to the intergalactic synths of Paul Hardcastle, the playfulness of The Jets to the smoothness of the S.O.S Band.
Love & Electrik gets you with a classic style but also sends you light years into an unknown but beautiful future. Enter Roxy, a quirky, yet sexy woman that embodies the LOVE…Love for a soulsonic force that guides her voice and her life. Enter Kevin, he is the ELECTRIK…he’s the pulse, the manipulator of rhythm and synthesizer of sound!
Born in the 80's, music dominated Roxy’s childhood as her British parents lived a life of “surburban rock stars”, throwing wild house parties every weekend. Roxy was surrounded by subwoofers pumping out classic new- wave 80's music, including Roxy Music, after which her parents auspiciously named her. From hanging out in her Dad's stereo store to learning how to dance from her Mom to being inspired to sing by her singer/performer Granny and jamming with her older brother on the drums, Roxy was raised in a life of high fidelity. Her parents love of new-wave led to Roxy’s later obsession with electronic music, with its heavy use of synthesizers.
Meanwhile Kevin was growing up in the 80's. Classical music recitals were boring the funk out of him. He began to fall in love with taking apart electronics, which fed his curious soul. Eventually, Kevin found a way to bridge his two interests of music and electronics and he became a lover of synthesizers, leading him on a journey into electronic music production.
After years of development and discovery, the duo established their distinct vision, catapulting them towards another musical entity; Chin Injeti & DJ Khalil (from The New Royales) and the Vancouver collective The Hastings Set. Under the tutelage of Chin's experience and production, Love & Electrik is now on course heading towards another explosion.
With the sexy, playful single, “Sex Video” now available on Beatport.com and coming soon to iTunes, through Tremendous Records, the duo have already been chosen as the opening acts for the likes of Chromeo, Amanda Blank and Devlin & Darko (Spank Rock DJ's). With all this momentum, Love & Electrik aren’t just heading towards any other explosion but instead, a Big Bang!
