I write books and I sometimes write lyrics, too.. I am the latter half of WILLIAM CAMPBELL & KEVIN MACNEIL; we've just recorded our debut album.
I listen to lots of different bands, from RUSH to EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY to DONOVAN to HUSKER DU and many stops in-between. There are lots of great bands from my native Isle of Lewis these days, too many to name. And check out THERE WILL BE FIREWORKS.
Oh, and in my mind The MURDERERS OF LOVE are already legendary, though I haven't heard them yet!Movies

And, quite possibly, you.

About me:
Book writer and bike rider. Poet, novelist, playwright, lyricist and aphorist originally from Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, now living in Edinburgh.Nowadays I'm all about the writing and the cycling and the meditating.
In among all the poetry, prose, lyrics and drama, I sometimes think I should have written my own story. Maybe I will one day. Probably surprise a few people. ..

Who I'd like to meet:
Track "Tim/Time" by Paul Mounsey and featuring yours truly. Commissioned for opening of new arts centre An Lanntair in Stornoway. Original poem by great Gaelic songwriter Murdo MacFarlane, an eccentric bard who used to wear two pairs of glasses simultaneously. I don't know if he also had contact lenses. Here I am talking bad Spanish to approx 10,000 of the good people of Medellin, Colombia, in, I think, the year 2000. The people of Colombia are wonderful; they treat writers very well!Details

10 of 383MoreHello! I just finished 'A method actors guide...' and I totally loved it, even more than The Stornoway Way I think :-D utterly brilliant!
Hi Kev, I gave facebook the flick. Hey I caught up with Elin, Mark and Eldon on Friday. We ate in a raw food restaurant!
Congratulations on completing the new novel! Hope the next stages go smoothly, and look forward to reading it in September! x
Oi! Hello there. Did your bro fill you in with the goss on the Grant Hart night?
Haha..
Hope all is well -I don't do Facebook anymore - Can't live in two of these virtual worlds.

Hello Kevin,
Thanks for having me! I hope you have a happy birthday,
Best wishes,

Happy Birthday to you, may the muse be with you!
Thank you. It was very good. We had some singing and guitar(including a rather abrupt, but none the less very well done, power solo which terrified the rector and the school minister guy to the point I was sure one of them would faint), some saxophone pieces, a trumpet piece, and a piano and accordion piece, and my reading of "The Days Flash Past Us"!
It was a very well rounded event...
Thank you again for the kind words.
Kirsty

Well because I needed a poem that talked about life/growing up. Also, the fact you both went to the school. :)
Heya.
Just thought I'd let you know I read out one of your Iain Crichton Smith translations from Love and Zen in the Outer Hebridies at The Nicolson sixth year graduation ceremony last week.
:)
