Leeds two piece The Old Romantic Killer Band are a ferocious act who are equal parts Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Son House and Ryan Adams, with a mutual love of punk, blues, country and aggressive live shows. "Resurrected from the charred ashes of everything that was great about music in the past 30 years: the energy of DC hardcore bands, the meanness of rockabilly, the sheer coolness of Nick Cave, the power chords of the Ramones and the hair of a thousand eagles? Sneeze	Apr 10 2009 5:15 PM We've got a fantastic line up for April, with three great bands including Wintermute who are probably just about the hottest live act in Leeds at the moment and surely destined for very big things this year. Wintermute: New Big Scary Monsters signings Wintermute are making preparations for the release of their debut album 'Robot Works' (due out on 27th April, produced by James Kenosha). Having gone up and down the country four times playing their high-energy, intensely passionate, but strangely catchy take on math-pop and twice played at the legendary Leeds Festival, this Leeds-based four-piece are turning into a techy, but poppy, force to be reckoned with. 'A curious combo of At The Drive-In and Interpol, splashed with a bit of Foals-ian mathletics, tight and adventurous, Wintermute are cool. ' NME The ABC Club: Shoegaze guitars and ethereal vocals are a well proven combination, and The ABC Club don't put a step wrong to disprove this. Having played at Leeds Festival in 2007 the band are racking up performances supporting bands such as iForwardRussia!, Grammatics, Glasvegas and Make Model. The spirit of grunge and garage is turned into a deviant cocktail of sawn off sonics and musical trickery, whipping up a sonically charged garage-glam spell on every ear. Currently recording their debut Grimoire with Nine Black Alps Guitarist David Jones, The Witches, just on their value of sound alone, have created something truly unique. www.myspace.com/theworldwidewitches LENI WARD Leni Ward set up her own home studio and recorded "Body". She is the sole composer, performer, producer and recording engineer. Mastered by Tim Debney (Thom Yorke, Low, British Sea Power, Lily Allen), Body was released on British independent label Tunica Adventitia Records. Beginning life as a cathartic exercise, in an attempt to rid herself of the traumas experienced during a prolonged childhood illness during which time she was put on experimental drugs trials, Body quickly expanded to cover a wide range of topics, from mortality to philosophy. The album combines electronic and traditional instrumentation. Leni has quickly gained fans in England and beyond. Panda are a Halifax based noise punk act with influences ranging from The Fall to Sonic Youth and The Rapture. Their live shows are are often riotous occassions and they have recently played several high profile support slots with bands such as The Young Knives, No Age and Yeasayer.

Their novel name, energetic performances and manish volume has seen them play all over Europe and the UK with brain-mangling regularity. Hey! Panda are a Halifax based noise punk act with influences ranging from The Fall to Sonic Youth and The Rapture. Their live shows are are often riotous occassions and they have recently played several high profile support slots with bands such as The Young Knives, No Age and Yeasayer. Garfunkel & Simon is the antifolk influenced solo project from Patrick of Monty Casino. His songs take in a wide range of subject matter icluding Politics, Television, Peter Crouch, Cycling, Greek Doctors, Bradford, Bradford City and Books. Over the course of the last year he has played with Johnny Foreigner, The Wind Whistles, Pulled Apart By Horses, and Sons and Daughters. To cap the evening off there'll be a set from our very own Sneeze djs playing alt/indie/electro and whatever else takes their fancy right through until 3am.
