"Love Beats War is a fresh take at the pop punk genre. Their debut EP, Too Cool for School is reminiscent of the pop-punk legends Blink 182. These young rockers are full of charisma. The quartets music is full of catchy riffs and choruses. In contrast to Blink’s sound, their electronic incorporations adds to a fuller, more textured sound. The EP’s title track “Too Cool For School” keeps up with the youthful spirit of the EP. “Air Jordan” masters the pop-punk sound as a concoction of young, energetic, and fast punk sounds tinted with power-pop. It was inspired by developing a strong relationship with God, loving life, and falling in love with summer. "Strawberry Mint" is simple to decypher- Lustful. This song is soley about hooking up with girls. “Trix are for Kidz” is unique with the incorporation of chunky breakdowns. In the song "Slow Down, Turbo!" singer/songwriter Leon writes about how the ones who love us the most (family) can sometimes get annoying. This seemingly kiddish album has hidden allegory, and you must listen to the lyrics carefully to catch it. “Southern Utah Here I Come” is the power ballad of the EP. This song is about recovery, picking up the pieces and putting them back together. It is beautifully written, sincerity and emotion in every word. "Knees To The Floor" gives the most sentiment. Its about clarity and truth. Although the tone might be a little somber differentiating from the albums youthful sound, the song is also very uplifting, positive, and inspiring. Vocalist Leon could not be a more perfect match for this band, with his noteworthy use of diction and enunciation. Why should you know them? Because Love Beats War is the epitome of what pop punk should sound like. They have the potential to be just as much of a success as the masters of pop-punk Blink 182, Green Day, Fall out Boy, and New Found Glory."
