LOVECHILE is one of Honolulu's newest and premiere rock bands to emerge onto the scene. Pronounced "Love Child," yet spelled differently as a respectful nod to Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile," Lovechile consists of two halves of different bands. The first half is Jamm Aquino on vocals/guitar, and Richard Walker on the bass, former members of Honolulu grunge-rock band The Crud. Drummer Eric Lagrimas and guitarist Rylan Yee make up the other half--they are members of the Waikiki-based ska/rock band Pimpbot. All four were drawn together by the mutual love of creating good ol' rock n' roll on the universally appealing platform of blues music.
Less than two years since its conception, Lovechile has blossomed into a refreshing and innovative take on blues-based rock--something Hawaii hasn't experienced in quite some time. Lovechile has amassed an album's worth of original music as well as a busy schedule of shows in and around the Honolulu area. The plethora of musical influences that fuel the guitar-driven groove of Lovechile include Jimi Hendrix, Bill Withers, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, as well as more modern guitar greats such as Joe Bonamassa, Eric Johnson, Chris Duarte, and John Mayer. The debut album is due sometime in early 2009 with a tour to support it following shortly thereafter. Look for Lovechile to "blues n' roll" into a venue near you very soon!
