Based out of Hollywood, California their sound can’t be contained by one simple genre. Love Darling is an indie-rock-alternative band that pushes boundaries channeling an array of influences from Wolfmother to Metric, from Queens of the Stone Age to Tegan and Sara. The trio formed in late 2008 when the lives of guitarist/vocalist Shay Magro, bassist/keyboardist Mike Wolpe and drummer Shane McLafferty collided in a visceral and serendipitous explosion. The details are still a bit fuzzy, but they each recall it had something to do with late night diners, imaginary friends, cobblestone streets, fortune-tellers and a love-tester machine.
Love Darling (formerly HotLites) recently finished their debut 7 song EP Pawnshop Radio ON and are currently in the studio recording the acoustic companion EP Pawnshop Radio OFF. The band just shot a video for their first single, ”Unbelievable” with direction by Eric Del Greco and Rainer Lipski. The band is also eagerly anticipating Spring 2010 when they’ll be recording a full-length record with legendary producer Gordon Raphael (The Strokes, Regina Spektor) as well as lining up dates for live shows and a UK tour.
