Tra Slaughter Bio, I see painting as a means of telling a story with the sound turned down. So the use of old books, magazines, newspapers, maps, and the likes there of are my method, or chosen path for now, of recycling old stories into new stories of my own. Now these stories can become part of, or a starting point for future stories to be told and shared. I listen to music almost constantly, I even sleep with it on, and I find the rhythms and lyrics funnel right through my paintbrush and explode onto the canvas giving new dimensions to songs through my creations. My affinity for mixed media was born from artists that inspire me from the past and present as well as being inspired by my career as a graphic designer.
