Once Smitten (2011)

Once Smitten, the sophisticated new album from Toronto's Lovely Killbots, showcases their unique brand of post-indie-dance-rock. Produced by the stellar Gavin Brown (Metric, Sarah Harmer, Billy Talent, etc) and Dave Mohacsi, Once Smitten is a real gem, sonically deep and conceptually grand. From party trip to real serious, the band continues to establish their authentic and imaginative sound through a mixture of gorgeous vocals, heavy analog synths, lovely melodies and huge complex drum beats that reverberate in your mind for days and days and days.

ONCE SMITTEN PRESS!

Once Smitten is a darkly dancetastic robot masterpiece - Dan from TWM

This is a phenomenal piece of work. Almost every song will resonate with you after only one listen and it proves that, to quote Dan Managan, robots need love too - Michael from Greyowl Point

Much like the impending robot enslavement of all humanity, you would be wise to keep your eye on this talented electro-pop duo. With a new album under their belt, the Lovely Killbots are ready to take over - Orlando from Soundproof Magazine

Primrose Lane (2008)

(designed by Ryan)..

Primrose Lane, the debut LP from Lovely Killbots, stands alone as an enigmatic, quirky art album. The duo combines loose and arty piano and drums for a stunning mash-up of classical piano meets trip/hop drum experiments. Primrose Lane showcases the band's perfected dark, rhythmic songwriting and marks the beginnings of a strong and ambitious duo.

PRIMROSE LANE PRESS!

These two are incredibly talented. Each song is elevated into something of an art piece through Lauralee's piano playing and Ryan is a phenom on drums. It's amazing to watch a two-person band come up with something that sounds so vividly layered - Jen Ford from BlogTO

The band knows how to make the most out of the fact they have a frontwoman with a gorgeous voice and a drummer who understands how to make complex time signatures sound completely normal. For a first effort "Primrose Lane" is an album of which Lovely Killbots should be enormously proud - Matthew from iheartmusic

The chemistry the duo exhibits is impressive. For a debut LP, Primrose Lane is strong, polished and shows remarkable consistency. Definitely a band to keep an eye on - Bryan Acker from Herohill

Lovely Killbots

Lovely Killbots (a synth/piano/drum duo) were assembled with the utmost love and care in a downtown factory by brilliant scientists and a student assistant who didn't quite know what he was doing but made really, really good coffee.

One night when the factory was empty, the student assistant decided to throw a party for his lovely friends (especially those of the female designation). Nobody knows quite how or why but from the moment a beautiful muse spilled her beer all over the programming computer, the Lovely Killbots awoke and began writing their own programming which consisted of heart-breaking sounds and creative thoughts. They resisted authority and drank lots of beer but most importantly, created new sonic soundscapes never before heard by the ears of humans.

Now they have disguised themselves in human skin (they could be curious, they could be shy, they could be lovely, they could be sad) and are bringing their music to us with a robots equivalent of pure bliss.
