From Buffalo, NY, Love Parade was originally started by Jason Sallese in 2002 as a recording project about 50 miles south in the town of Fredonia. The band was comprised of a grab bag of musicians from surrounding groups (including Gym Class Heroes, League, and Standfast), and although their shows and self-titled EP, The Love Parade were well received (WCVF-FM radio show, New Music Spotlight referred to it as “A Pop Gem”), members of Love Parade split to work on other projects.
Jason had begun spending time as a multi-instrumentalist with Long Island, NY based Delicious Trees, before moving to Buffalo, NY in late 2004. Over the course of the next year, new songs were written, and sessions began to take place for what would become the next Love Parade recording. During this time, Michael Bassette (a Harrisville, NY implant) stepped in and took up role as Love Parade’s bassist, while Buffalo native Aaron Martin joined on drums, after spending time in Los Angeles playing with The Pandas (fronted by ex-Warlocks bassist Bobby Martinez).
In January 2006, Love Parade finished the LP, Inside Rooms Outside Boxes, and performed throughout the Northeast, and into 2007 (gaining opening slots for groups like Rogue Wave, Oakley Hall, Page France, and Extra Golden). The group’s live sound began to garner more noisy, psychedelic pop comparisons (Buffalo Rising described it as “lovely psych-tinged indie pop with fuzzed out guitars”), giving them a unique home within Buffalo’s musical community.
The past year saw the band working on recording material for the new album. Entitled, All Together Now, the album was recorded in Buffalo by Sallese, was mixed by Fen Ikner (Knife Crazy) and was mastered by Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev).
