the band is called orphan family because that’s what it feels like when you are with your best friends - you are orphans to each other, unrelated, but you are a family and that is a splendid dichotomy.
the songs are about these things: devotion, fucking, drugs, apathy, and the universal struggle between heart and mind.
orphan familiy supports the definition of rock-n-roll, a phrase which initially got its name as a metaphor used to describe the way you rock and then you roll when you’re fucking in the bushes.
we’re all just a bunch of orphans.

I remember talking with Chris at the 4W5 in Wilmington about Latchkey Kids, telling him how much I liked the song, and him telling me how he wrote it for his son. I was going to just type all the lyrics here...but this is much better than that, I love you man. Thanks for the music, thanks for working with me, thanks for talking to me, thanks for being a friend.
i'll be missing you, chris -- for the rest of my life. it hurts so horribly to think that you're gone now. but i know the melody of your life will move forwards in the lives of those you've touched. "fucking classic" forever.
proud to be the goldmund to your narcissus... (or was it the other way around?) - jason
