   Low Key Comics's Blurbs
About me:
Low Key Comics is a small comic book publishing venture featuring books across a wide variety of genres from creators across the US and Canada. Our book are available in friendly local retailers in the areas in which our creators live, and can also be ordered online. Links to online ordering can be found by clicking on the covers below.

Here are our books available so far.....

Low Key Comics #1
Our flagship anthology's first issue, featuring 5 short stories...
- The Legend of El Rey, the origin story of the terrifying villain of the noir western story The Last Days of El Rey (see below for more)
- Everyman, a tongue-in-cheek story of a superhero-for-hire
- Ghrey, a sci-fi space opera
- Trio, a half slice-of-life/half mystery story of a man who receives strange notes that predict the future
- Hopeless Heroes, a down to earth superhero yarn

Low Key Comics #2
The second issue of our anthology features three 8-page stories, with enough variety to please any comics fan! On the cover this month is "Monkey Bars," a sweet slice-of-life story featuring a group of childhood friends and a certain piece of playground equipment. Next up, pulp action hero Doc Hyperion and his crew run into trouble on a strange alien planet in "The Lost Continent of Monsters". And finally, fantasy hero Shard stumbles across a mysterious passage way in "Magicals: The Door To Nowhere."

The Last Days of El Rey #1
El Rey: A south of the border Shangri-La of drunken debauchery, lithesome ladies, and first-class footloose and fancy free living. If you're on the lam from Johnny Law with a bag full of bucks, El Rey's your ticket to the easy life. But it'll cost you. It'll cost you plenty.

The first issue of this mini-series introduces us to the residents of El Rey, a criminal retirement town hidden in the Sierra Madre mountains, and to the one man who could burn it all to the ground.

Downhill From Here
Growing old doesn’t necessarily mean growing up in Downhill From Here, a collection of short stories that follows a cast of four college-aged kids through the trials and tribulations of twentysomething life. Downhill From Here will be the first Low Key comic published in glorious FULL COLOR, and features art by Paul Little, Justin Crouse, Michael Brooks, and El Rey’s Kyle Morton. The first issue is at the printers as we speak, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!

Writers @ Edit Red

Apr 23 2007 5:14 AM

'City Smells' is a new literary project set up by the Edit Red Writing Community.

We are running three writing competitions, Flash Fiction, Creative Non-Fiction and Poetry, all with the theme 'City Smells. The winners of each of these competitions will win $100. But more than this, we will take the best work from each competition and compile a paperback 'City Smells' anthology. The writers who make it into the 'City Smells' anthology will each receive free copies of the book and be paid a royalty in book sales.

To submit to these competition and stand a chance of being published in the 'City Smells' book you must be a member of Edit Red, as the submission process is automated. Joining Edit Red and entering these competitions is 100% free. If you make it into the book, we will pay royalties based on book sales.

Edit Red has existed for many years and was created and is still managed today by non-fiction author Alan Emmins, creative writing teacher Chris Lee Ramsden and literary reviewer Sean Merrigan.

If you are not already a member, we hope you will join and take part in this great literary event. Sign up here for free!

Regards
Alan, Sean and Chris

I'm really impressed with the types of books you have to offer and the artwork I've seen here. Really sweet stuff! If you ever need a cover or a pin-up, just let me know...I'm either super cheap or basically free. And thanks, I'm glad you like my taste in early 90's music. Ned's Atomic and School of Fish are two of my absolute favorite bands...Dana

I'm getting rid of my personal Myspace. Just seems redundant. The only catch is guys like Joe Shuler who don't accept friend requests from bands won't be on my list.
