NEXT LOWKEY - In the New Year!Watch this space.p>
If you'd like to play Lowkey or our acoustic night Little Lowkey, drop us a message and tell us about yourself.
We put on monthly nights featuring bands and djs of many different genetic makeups. We particularly like music that makes us want to dance and clap our hands, whether it be indie, samba, pop or played on a harpsichord. Get in touch - we might like you even if you don't like yourself very much sometimes.
Lowkey started life in 2000 as an acoustic night where people could play and find an audience - this is in the mists of time before myspace! We began with the aim of making a nice chilled-out place for people to listen to music, and to give any leftover monies to charity. Although we haven't exactly sold out and gone corporate, these days we are less focused on the acoustic and more on the fun:
Plugged + bigger venue + free badges & other variables = Fun Times For All!
Smoke Feathers have been invited to play at the INDY Music Awards media launch and short list announcement party on Wednesday April 2nd 7pm at the Rock Garden, Covent Garden, London.
It’s no guarantee that we have been shortlisted for the final, but we hope it is a good sign....
Click the flyer to buy advance tickets for just £4 (plus 50p booking fee)
The next Soup Kitchen night has been confirmed for Saturday 2nd February 2008 and will take place at The Grosvenor in Stockwell. It's not too far from the Brixton Jamm.
The club will be free entry for all those watching the bands and for anyone joining after 11pm - the club will run to the early hours of the morning.
Smokers Die Younger
Coming down from Sheffield for a rare London show we have Smokers Die Younger who have been described as an astounding, soul-embracing band you dreamed you were discovering throughout your teenage years.
Coming over all the way from Iceland for a whirlwind visit. This is their only London show of their brief stay.
Champion Kickboxer
A feast of beautifully organic pop music a little like the Super Furry Animals with great vocal harmonies and a melancholic air that drifts through all the songs. A must see band.
The Bridport Dagger
"The Bridport Dagger are a bass-less 3-piece who craft darkly hypnotic songs that conjure up images of the past without ever falling into the realms of nostalgia" so says Maps magazine.
SPILT MILK debut single "FRANK" out on limited edition 7" and download on 21st January:
"The kind of thing that the late Mr. Peel would have hit the repeat button for." - www.myspace.com/thesundayexperience
"When people start printing their 'Bands for 2008' lists, as they will, you can seriously ignore pretty much all of them. Spilt Milk are the band to watch. Buy this record, it honestly would be rude and downright stupid not to. " - www.bloodshedinthewoodshed.blogspot.com
Gary Crowley's "featured artist of the week" on BBC London Radio. - www.bbc.co.uk/london/radio

HEY!! As im sure you will realise this is a group message, but with equal importance to everyone who reads it. (we are musicians NOT corporate bastards!)
In 2/3 weeks we will be unveiling our EP. This will be available online, and we will let you know where from closer to the time, but for now weve chucked in a few old favourites for you all to remember.
Although everyone says this, we truly mean it...We love you all, your love for music is what keeps us going, if it werent for you, whats the point. Keep listening!
yeah, you're right, sometimes we don't really like ourselves that much. but we're coping... anyway, maybe that's why people not only dance and clap their heads to our music but even smash bottles on their heads. pure glass bottles!!
cheers,
Nx
Hello Lowkey or even Hellowkey! Just thought I'd say hello and increase your number of comments by a full 200% although Amna's message about her intimate relationship with Lowkey looks quite nice on its own there. Maybe I should leave it alone. Aah well I've already written all this now, there's no going back. The website looks beautiful by the by. Well done everyone!
