Eric Lowen - 6- and 12-string guitars, mandolin. lead and harmony vocals. . . . . . Dan Navarro - 6-string acoustic guitars, some keyboards, percussion, lead and harmony vocals. . . . . . . with Phil Parlapiano on accordion, piano, organ, on the road and in the studio.
Influences
Beyond influences by this time. . . influenced as kids by Bob Dylan, Beatles, Stones, Woody Guthrie, Simon & Garfunkel, Byrds, Jackson Browne, Ray Charles, Nick Drake, Nick Lowe, Frank Sinatra, Motown, Aaron Copland, bubblegum, Wilson Pickett, Righteous Bros, Brian Wilson, Van Morrison, Springsteen, every tight harmony vocal duo on the face of the earth, and the salad days of American Top 40.
Sounds Like
Like any of the great duos -- Simon & Garfunkel, Everly Bros, Indigo Girls, Righteous Bros, BoDeans, Rembrandts, Hall & Oates, The Louvins, Sam & Dave, John & Paul, Crosby & Nash, Nick Lowe & Dave Edmunds, Brewer & Shipley, Bobby & James Purify -- Lowen & Navarro weave tight vocals into a thick sonic fabric, with their original songs coming from the perspective of a rich and deep experience.
For Eric Lowen and Dan Navarro, the road is home, the stage is the runway and the studio the garden. Songs of loss and change, hope and acceptance, fear and deliverance color their six studio albums. Voices locked in synchro-step weaving in and out of the flow, telling stories of real lives in the balance. The connections between singer and song, between audience and stage melt into a rich brew that brings them deeper into the heart of the matter and that much closer to the fire in the hearts of their people. There is no road too long that their people don't travel far and wide to see and hear them. As it has been for nearly twenty years, it still is today.
I have loved your music for years. I stumbled across the title song for your new album (do they still call them that? :)), Learning to Fall. Eric, I'm sorry that you have ALS. I struggle with scleroderma, an autoimmune condition. I have made my MySpace page about encouraging those with disabiities, so I've posted your song on my blog, as I believe that your message will touch many.
I wish you both well and best wishes. God bless. Peace and love, Terri

Look forward to seeing you all perform again soon. You guys are truly awesome. Tommy. PS - your resently acquired CDs were great for the trip back.

Approaching the 4th I’ve decided to release a new single of an old song.
Though I'm more likely to write and play protest songs, I was invited to sing the "National Anthem" for my son’s little league. I found the original poem, written by Francis Scott Key. Some of the non-Anthem verses are, in their own ways, pretty “heavy.”
So, the next time I was in the studio, I recorded some of the “lost verses” Come over to my page and listen, won’t you? Add a comment or a (don’t be mean) suggestion, too.
Happy 4th,
Allan Comeau www.TopangaRecords.com
