  • Bio

Lowtech Army is a 3-piece rock band from Wilmington, NC. We formed in late 2008 with a goal of spreading our music to as many people as possible. For the majority of 2009, we spent writing original tunes and practicing nonstop. We performed a hand full of shows and received a pretty nice live recording from what used to be Lucky's Pub. We quickly set our marketing goals for 2010. The first thing we needed was a quality recording. So from the help of Kurt Schuelke and Clear Skies Productions, we began recording our first album entitled "Funck You" on July 12, 2010. Once completed, we decided the best way to get our music to as many people as possible was to release it on various websites for free. We assume that most people will not pay $1 for a band they have never heard. This was a very smart decision as we received lots of great feedback from fans we knew and didn't know. The album is available for free streaming and download at http://www.archive.org/details/LowtechArmy-funckYou Our goals for 2011 were to record our second album within 6 months, beginning February 11th with the help once again from Kurt Schuelke and Clear Skies Productions. It is available for free streaming and download at http://www.archive.org/details/LowtechArmy-justifyingCrazy We had success with radio play thanks to the help of 98.3 The Penguin. They have played two singles from the "Funck You" album including "Nasty Girls" and "Once Again "and also "Justifying Crazy" from the album of the same name. We have performed at numerous venues including The Whiskey, City Stage Level 5, The Palm Room, The Soapbox, Red Dogs, The Calico Room, The Seawitch, and 16 Taps to name a few. Our focus is playing mostly originals, however we do make time for some covers. Our influences include Widespread Panic, The Grateful Dead, Phish, Ween, Pink Floyd, and many more. Our live shows have an ever changing rotation of songs and set lists so that no two shows are ever the same. We have collaborated with many sit-in musicians, most notably performing with Headway for our 2011 New Years Eve show. We appreciate everybody who has given us a chance to play their venue, and all of our fans for their wonderful support. You know who you are and Lowtech Army thanks you very much!
