About Lauren Proctor

I hope to continue my studies and get my PhD. I'm the founder and CEO of Thrill Magazine, a lifestyle guide for music and fashion. I've worked in editing for a celebrity publication, a little promotions and publicity in the music industry, namely for Existence Records (an electro label). I'm a freelance writer who has worked for Talk of New York, Skope Magazine, and other publications.

I believe that the world is beautiful simply by existing. Music, learning, traveling, writing, reading, surfing, listening to people, and helping others are among my many passions. The number 32 is my obsession. I love food, especially when it's spicy or sweet. I'm focused, yet all about living in the spur of the moment. Eventually, I'd like to live in at least 8 countries. Driving with the music pumped is my therapy. My natural reaction to seeing kids or an elderly individual is to grin from ear to ear and comment about how cute they are. I get excited easily. There's nothing like going on adventures, especially after a long day's work. Adventures, especially with people I care about, mean the world to me. My friends are one of the most important things in my life. I'm interested in just about everything and passionate about life.

Interests

Interested in just about anything from geeky electronics, books and reading, writing, poetry, sports, surfing, Chinese Fire Drills, Bubble Tea, eating, listening to music, laughing, conversation, listening to tennis (I love the way the ball sounds when it hits the racket), making people happy, working out, meeting new people, and just about anything you can think of.

Movies

My favorite movies are almost always foreign or independent, but I'll watch just about anything if the company is right. It's my belief that films that provoke thought and create a reaction within a person are the most effective. I love a film you can talk about for weeks after you've seen it.

Music

I love all types of music, from country to rap, and everything in between. I'm into music with a cause and good lyrics. Some music I like is the following: The Shins, Rufus Wainwright, Something Corporate, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Elected, Of Montreal, Her Space Holiday, Arcade Fire, Dolorean, Rilo Kiley, Belle and Sebastian, A Tribe Called Quest, Atmosphere, Roots, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Rusted Root, Bob Marley, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Modest Mouse, Kid Koala, RJD2, Reel Big Fish, Mustard Plug, Mana, Juanes, Indigo Girls, K.D. Lang, ViV, Mike Park, Tegan and Sara, Ani DiFranco, Jay Brannan, Anya Marina, Scissors For Leftie, James Taylor, Billy Joel, Chris Isaak. I imagine a picturesque future and hope that music is always an intregal part of that.

Books

I'll read anything I can get my hands on, from poetry, history, memoirs, fiction, magazines, and nonfiction. I'm horrible with favorites but The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran is probably the book that changed my life most significantly.
