Everything experienced and music throughout history, especially my Rock & Folk roots from the '60s thru present. Latest lyrically: A Course In Miracles
Described as passionate, Larry Saklad merges elements of timeless acoustic rock, painting landscapes of heartfelt observations and questions, with brit-pop sensibility and smoky folk-blues, as uniquely fresh as it is uncannily familiar. One moment- brash, angular and edgy, the next- surveying dark horizons in subdued melancholy, he infuses all our dreams of a better life with hope and faith in possibility...
engaging.
*Please consider his history in Philly...

"I do represent the heritage of Philly Rock w/ grace, have always been a fan and rallied all the bands that came up and thru this Philly Music Scene, champion(ed) our cause, have the respect of my peers and plenty of stories. And the songs just keep comin..."
If any of you are part of/ interested in the Philly Scene in the 1980's, Here's my favorite site, courtesies of— Reesa (and The Rooters), "Thanks for helping to build this ever-growing '80s Philly music scrapbook."
Following his fall '06 debut release, Yet2B, Larry Saklad has been performing regionally in assorted venues and showcases, both in support of those songs, Oh Philadelphia and new writing. This year brings us another collection of fresh recordings, Yet2B is..., all relate to finding peace in a decidedly unpeaceful place.
As accomplished, both on piano and guitar, Larry's songs reflect an interplay of each instrument weaving counterpoint against the other. His songwriting muse alternately hi-lights one, yet this focus shifts throughout the collection and within most songs.
His singing also has shifted, earlier known for his plaintive raw passion, he pushes it with gentler intensity. Vocally, "Oh Philadelphia" articulates dynamic contrast, along with the resonance of "Tethered", while "I Been Told" woos us in refreshing harmony with Kim De Meo, also co-writer.
Contrasts abound, with keyboard textures, electric/ acoustic guitars and drums, all providing support for an ever-changing song genre. From full-on rock anthems to acoustic ballads and funky-folk pop, Saklad crafts thoughtful and catchy insight about our world, in the light of redefining what is reality/ illusion, as in "What If". Ultimately, truth lies only within our relationship with each other, the subject well presented in these songs. And he doesn't avoid God and holiness as relates to the mindset of peace.
Some may say,"Peace sounds kind of boring," but experiencing Larry Saklad's art is anything but...
BIO '08
*** Yet2B is Larry Saklad, a former member of Alan Mann & the Free Arts Band and David Rowan & Exisdance - keyboards: both bands received widespread airplay and acclaim with live broadcasts and concerts. He began classical piano at age 6 and performed Carnegie Hall at 10. By 13 Larry was hooked on songwriting and jamming on compact organ in Philly rock bands to the Doors, the Who, Beatles and Stones, Clapton, CSNY and Led Zep. Learning guitar further inspired a greater command of original songwriting. By his HS graduation, Saklad was heard on local radio.
After over a decade working for others' bands including Robert Hazard and Essra Mohawk, in 1993 Larry recorded Alan Mann's "Christmas on the Block" with the help of Tom Basmajian, aired on WMMR by Cyndy Drue for many years. He is now devoted to his unique talent as singer/songwriter. Writing, recording and playing 'round the clock since April '06 full time, Saklad is performing solo in support of his debut release Yet2B, the Oh Philadelphia project, and new writing , and is also performing/ recording in David Rowan's band "Wet Pet" with Doug Grigsby. He first premiered the work in progress at the World Café Live on April 16, '05 for the 2nd Annual Alan Mann Tribute to great reception, and is receiving airplay on WXPN Philly Local, WQHS U Penn, RadioVolta.org and WSTW Hometown Heroes. He's been performing regularly since April '06 at World Café, LOVE PARK, Puck Live, Tin Angel, JC Dobbs, PhilaFunk Live, Fergies, The Khyber, The Fire, TriTone, North Star, Doc Watson's, The Rotunda, Lickety Split, Raven Lounge, The Dive, 5th St. Coffee, John & Peter's, Club 218, Azure, Milkboy Coffee, Indie Music Conf, Green Line Cafes, more...
