L'Shir was established at the University of Hartford in Spring 2000 with assistance from the Hartford Hillel Foundation. Originally an all-Jewish a cappella group, L'Shir has evolved into one of many denominations. We still call ourselves "L'Shir" which means "to sing" in Hebrew. We also stay true to our roots in continuation of the traditional performance of "Shalom Rav" a poignant arrangement written by one of our founding alumni, Benjamin Rauch, in response to the September 11 attacks.
L'Shir performs just about anywhere--benefit concerts, high schools, convalescent homes, local events, or opening for other a cappella groups around the northeast. We have placed at ICCA (Intercollegiate Championship of College A Cappella) over the last couple of years at the quarterfinals in Hartford, CT and the semifinals at MIT in Boston. L'Shir has recorded an album during 2005-2006 entitled, "Insomniac" with the assistance of MPTs Adam Podd, Dan Emino and Jon Hong.
L'shir is proud to announce their BRAND NEW 2008-2009 CD---> L'Shir: Defined. Songs from the album include: "Spiderwebs," "Put Your Records On," "Say," "Island in the Sun," "Lesson Learned," and many more!

HEY GUYS! I was just thinking about how its been a while since I left you guys some l'ove... just wanted to say I miss you all and I'm excited to meet some more new members! (Btw I'm starting to feel really old and that's not cool...)
P.S. I saw Emmett over thanksgiving & he told me when ICCA is...I'm going to come if I'm not in Vegas cuz thats my feb break! YAY!!!
