The 36th Hertz MC Smoothie has been resident MC for the Newbury based movement since 2005.
After beginning his writing in ‘98 with inspiration from a range of names such as Phi Life Cypher, Eminem, Stevie-Hyper and Nu Breed, Smoothie has developed a versatile style that compliments the music the way an MC should.
In the years that followed his pairing with DJ Vapour, Smoothie has risen quickly through the scene and has contributed vocal gymnastics at a wide range of events across Britain and Europe alongside a huge variety of different DJs and MCs including Friction, Hype, Grooverider, Eksman, Foxy, Herbsie and Fearless.
Smoothie has also appeared on a variety of radio stations, including London’s longest running Drum and Bass station Kool FM, Unscene Radio Oxford, Rapture FM, Jungle Sound Radio, Drum & Bass Worldwide and has also made an appearance on Drum and Bass Arena’s DNBTV.
Smoothie’s fast rise was recognised by ATM magazine as he hosted the July ’08 mix CD and was also awarded 'MC of the Issue’ in the October 2007 issue of Knowledge magazine.
In addition to his live vocal work, Smoothie has expanded his talents into the studio and is now working on a wide range of projects, including the Mysterons' remix of ‘4 Hero - Mr Kirk's Nightmare’ that is due to be released on the ‘Step Back Sessions’.
