About me:
LSU Theatre has a long and rich tradition extending back to 1928. Our program offers the Bachelor of Arts and the Master of Fine Arts in acting. The Doctor of Philosophy is offered in theatre history, dramatic literature, and dramatic theory & criticism. In 1992, at the invitation of former LSU Department of Theatre Chairperson Gresdna Doty, Swine Palace was founded by Barry Kyle (former artistic director of the Royal Shakespeare Company's Swan Theatre) in association with LSU Theatre as a non-profit professional theatre company supporting the educational mission of the LSU Department of Theatre. Today, the LSU Department of Theatre remains one of a handful of programs in the country with an affiliate equity theatre providing our students the opportunity to work alongside leading professionals in the field and giving our patrons access to some of the brightest young talent in the country. As LSU Theatre and Swine Palace sail into a new era under the leadership of LSU Department of Theatre Chairperson Michael Tick, audiences can look forward to many exciting developments. Swine Palace continues its mission of presenting bold, innovative, and thought-provoking theatre for all of Louisiana's citizens, thus making a significant impact on the cultural and economic landscape of Louisiana and cultivating a new generation of theatre-goers. Across campus, LSU Theatre prepares for a multi-million dollar renovation of the music and dramatic arts building. Once completed, LSU and Baton Rouge will boast some of the finest performance facilities in the country.

Oops...I fell back into theatre.

This time, I'm the Marketing & PR Director for a crazy, eclectic professional company called Horizon Theatre, which allows me free time to write, direct, and act (non-professionally, of course).

When I say crazy eclectic, I mean I ran into Eric Little in the office and came across an old copy of Les Wade's The Purple bird and the Coler Tree all in the same day! It's funny how life comes full circle sometimes. And Mr. Stabler, Lisa says hello.

Hi, This is Erin Cass. Glad to finally be a part of this community. I received my MFA in theatrical producing and management from CalArts in 2002. Since then, I have worked as a personal assistant to an actress and have been producing theatre in Los Angeles. I am moving to New York in a couple of weeks, my boss is in a Broadway show. I will work for her til her contact is up, then look for work in NYC doing marketing/publicity, general management, or other suitable jobs under the theatrical producing umbrella.

Since leaving LSU in 03, the wife and I moved to Chicago (spent all our money on childcare) and then to Charleston, S.C. We have two daughters, Alex (4) and Mallory (17 months), with no other children planned. (That situation has been "fixed"). Now in Charleston, I'm the associate artistic director and company manager for a professional theatre called Pure Theatre. (www.puretheatre.org). I really lucked out in finding this group, because I have gotten the opportunity to work constantly as an actor and director as well a getting input into play selections and direction of the theatre as a whole. Most of our plays are receiving their southeastern premiere so we are bringing new work to the area. I have also been heavily involved with the Spoleto Festival here in Charleston with my works as an actor (The Complete History of Charleston for Morons) and director (A Number) being performed. I also have joined an improv troupe called The Have Nots and perform with them 4 to 5 times a month. The founder of The Have Nots and I created a scripted piece The Complete History of Charleston for Morons that has been running in Charleston for two years and is now spinning off into a walking tour soon. And finally, I have a small but recurring role on the lifetime series Army Wives as Eddie, the nice guy having an affair with one of the mean army wives. I’m filming three episodes this season, including the season finale next week, but I don’t know if they'll bring the character back or not. And this morning for breakfast I had yogurt and granola. -Smitty

After LSU, I moved from performance to theatre management. I received my MFA from Florida State in 2005 and was the marketing coordinator and marketing director of the Utah Shakespearean Festival and Atlanta Lyric Theatre, respectively. I then decided I missed the artistic side of theatre, so I started acting, directing, and writing again. I am now married, settled into a suburb of Atlanta, GA, and am a Programmer for Gwinnett County, in charge of Historic Lawrenceville's Downtown Square. I put together special events ranging from outdoor concerts and county festivals to theatrical productions. Right now I am working on a new Shakespeare in the Park Festival for Gwinnett and will direct "Romeo & Juliet" summer of 08. I also have a new comedy, "Home is where the Trailer's Parked" that is slated to workshop spring of 08.

Hello All,
It has been a while since I have seen or talked to a lot of you, so here is what has been going on in my life since I left LSU. I went up to Western Illinois University for two years in a graduate program for directing. I directed several shows up there along with doing a children's tour all around the state of IL. I came to the realization though that directing wasn't for me, and wanted to try my luck elsewhere. That brought me here to the University of Central Florida. I am currently in my second year of my MA program in Theatre (focusing on dramaturgy, theory, criticism, etc.). By this time next year I should be a graduate and I am looking for various PhD programs to get into. Of course, I am going to apply at LSU Theatre for the PhD program. For those of you that remember David Charles, he teaches in Orlando at Rollins College along with Jenny Jones Cavenaugh. I did some work with David for an SETC presentation and I am currently writing a journal article with Jenny. Next semester I will be dramaturging Machinal here at UCF and I am really excited about that as well. I hope everyone is doing well; add me or drop me an email soon at aquarius_212@hotmail.com!!

I didn't really think of myself as a "LSU Theatre Alumni" since I only participated in the study abroad program, but oh well. I graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2005 with a B.A. in Theatre Arts emphases in performance and directing along with a minor in Psychology. I currently live in Minneapolis, MN where I am an intern at the Theatre de la Jeune Lune. I will be with them until June of 07, then after that, who knows! I am also writing a group performance piece using rejection letters, break-up e-mails, and transcripts of rejection answering machine messages. The piece is comprised of actual rejections and I am in need of a whole lot more! If you have any, send them my way.

After receiving my MFA in 1998, I took a job as Assistant Professor of Theatre at Central Michigan University. I teach Acting and Oral Interpretation. I also have directed many productions including "The Balcony Scene" by Wil Calhoun former LSU alumni. I still act from time to time, my most recent favorite role was playing Masha in "Three Sisters" woo woo! A dream role to be sure.

I have been with the same man for the past seven years. He is our Director of University Theatre at CMU and I couldn't be happier. Life is good!

I'm working in an AV rental house. My passion is sound design and audio, so this job works out quite nicely for me. I plan on going back to school for EE so I can design gear for productions. I will keep you guys updated. Embrace the opensource revolution, it is our best freind in the theatre world. Theatre will always be a part of my life.

Howdy folks! After college I got a job working for a rental car company as an assistant manager and that was pretty much terrible. Then I got a job as a Personal Assistant to Seann William Scott aka "Bo Duke" in the film Dukes of Hazzard. It was a true blast. After that gig I moved to Dallas where I met my husband. We were married last summer and are just as happy as can be. I work for an OB/GYN doctor and am loving every minute of it. Needless to say I have baby fever so one of those could be on the way soon. We shall see. So that's my life in a nutshell. If any of you ever come to Dallas let me know! We'd have a blast.

Alright, fine.... This is what had happeneded (LOL). I graduated, right, back in 03 and moved up to NYC, like a week later, right. Then I like did odd jobs for like six months while playing Dorothy in "The Wiz" in Brooklyn. After that, I figured I buckle down and really get in the industry. So, I applied to anything and everything that I believed in and had anything to do with theater. I got an internship in Casting at the Public Theater and networked my ass off. I left the Public a year and a half later to pursuit what I came up to New York to do... Direct. I Asst. Directed shows for NY Fringe Festival, Midtown International Festival, The Looking Glass Theater while doing work for the Public whenever they needed me.

Now I'm finally directing and it's great. You can look on my page to see what I'm up to. It's tough, but I'm glad I have supportive friends. We in this together ya'll! Let me know what you are up to and I'll do the same.

Peace, Love and Chicken Grease...

Eh.
Not that I’ve accomplished that much, and not that anyone really cares… but when an anonymous myspace administrator asks me to spill the beans, I say “Baaa, baaa, yes sir!”
After graduation in 2004, I worked for Swine Palace and the Baton Rouge School of Performing and Fine Art. I married my wonderful, fabulous Michael. We moved to Austin, TX where my first gig was to build a 6 foot tall chicken fried steak walk-about costume (yeehaw! Welcome to Texas!). I helped build costumes for Zachary Scott Theater, Conduit Films, St. Edwards University, Zilker Musical Productions, St. Stephen’s School and Kari Perkins Costumiere. One summer I went up to Westport, New York for the Depot Theater. This past summer, my wonderful, fabulous Michael was relocated through his job to Tulsa, Oklahoma. So, as of now, I am working for the Tulsa Ballet Company for their 50th Anniversary season. You can see a slideshow of some of my work on my profile.
Anyone who actually read through all that deserves a medal… or a spanking.

Well, I finally finished my Ph.D., though I moved out of BR 4 years ago. Still working alot in commercials, also directing and choreographing fights on the regional theatre circuit. Currently a professor of acting and movement at the Missouri State University Professional Training Program. Look for a book release in the next year. Most importantly, I married the most amazing woman I ever met and we now have a wonderful little girl.

Hello!
I am in my first year of the MFA in Acting program at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. I love Florida and I'm getting a lovely tan.
Our first semester wraps up next week. It has been a rough and exhilarating ride. The Meisner training we receive here has been transformational. I am looking forward to more great classes and especially my third year internship at the Orlando Shakespeare Festival! I think next year they're going to let me teach an acting class, which would be fantastic.
This semester I performed in UCF's production of Anna in the Tropics, and in the coming semester I will be originating the title role of Laura Schellhardt's The Shapeshifter. I'm very excited.
Love,
Desiree

Hello all....

As Chaney so eloquently put it, I am working all over the country. I have been a DC resident for a bit now, but I have been in Baton Rouge for the last two months. Murphy and Barr built a pool in the barn, and it was filtered and heated!

Friday, I head out to Portland, Oregon to take over stage managing a one man show with my friend, Wade. Then I am off to NYC to rehearse a show for the Kennedy Center. We will perform in DC late Feb thru March. I have been working non stop for the most part as a stage manager for the past three years since I left BR in 03.

I can't wait to see as many people as I can when I get to NYC in January!

I moved to New York in July after I landed an audition with a show at NBC. I whiffed, but they told me to come back next year. Since then, lots of standup comedy in little dives in Greenwich Village for the love of the game, and I'm currently trying to immerse myself in the Village folk music scene.

Nov 8 2006 1:50 AM

Well, after graduation I packed up my pony and moved to Norfolk, VA where I taught and performed with the Virginia Stage Company for a season. After that I relocated to my current home: Washington DC. According to my lease I share an apartment with LSU Alum Ellie Sturgill, but since she is now a hot commodity in the American Theatre I never see her.

Recently, I have done a government industrial film (there’s a lot of that here), an independent film, and stood in for Michael Pena in the Mark Wahlberg / Danny Glover film “Shooter.” This week I started rehearsals for a production of…are you ready… “The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society’s Production of A Christmas Carol.” It took me two weeks just to memorize the title. But it promises to be a hoot!

Hola, Friends!
Glad to hear everyone is doing well. :) Alright, so here's my update:
After LSU I moved to Jersey and got my MFA in Acting from Rutgers University. Graduated a year ago and relocated to NYC. So far most of the work I've done here in the city has been small/student/indy film work - primarily out of necessity to keep myself afloat with a day job. I've got an upcoming film I'm about to shoot in the next month I'm excited about - and just finished a short black/white film noir. I'm working on developing a collaborative/ensemble stage play that I'm really razzed about, and I just started a new job 2 days ago as an executive assistant. Finally - health/dental/vision insurance! :) Yay! I'm still awaiting the independent wealth thing to sweep me away, but so far I've made it one year in this tough city - heading into year #2.

Anything for LSU...
Well, hello. After graduating in '03, I moved out to Los Angeles and started doing the struggling, poor actor thing. It's not easy out here. But, I'm slowly but surely making some good progress. Yesterday, I booked a Guest Star role on Veronica Mars for The CW (formerly The WB and UPN)- so I got that goin' for me, which is nice. LSU MFA alumni Joe Chrest, John Mese, Wayne Pere and Scott Allen have also been very helpful to all of us newcomers by giving us advice and kind of being examples. Matt Bankston is about to take over Hollywood from the other side of the camera, which is awesome. So, LSU is going strong out here in L.A. Come on out!
