Mentoring young men especaily my two boys ages ten and six. | | Music | anything but country, rap, or heavy metal. You can't beat good ol' rock and roll. I was a teen in the '60's so covers a lot of ground. My sister was older so she was playing stuff from the '50's ye gads so we've gotta get the king Elvis in there right off.
So in no particular order I like, The mamas and Papas, The Beach Boys

Abbott and Costello Meet The Wolfman, The Endless Summer, Mutuny On The Bounty, Highnoon, The Ghost And Mrs. Muir, The Seven Year Itch, West Side Story, K-Pax | | Television | I don't watch much network T.V. it got overun with sitcoms which for the most part I can't stand. I watch my local PBS channel as it has an array of things interesting, from science to documenteries, to music, and nature to home repair. I build furniture and have been watching The New Yankee Workshop for years along with This Old House.
I have satilite and like to watch movies, The Discovery Channel, and since I am a fly fisherman I used to watch a sow called Fly Fishing The West, but I think it's been taken off the air. | | Books | Islands In The Stream, Chesapeak, Field Of Dreams, The Bridges Of Madison County (I know it's a chicks book) but a guy wrote it, what can I say. The Prophet, Poems by Rumi, my magazine subscriptions on furniture making (18th century colonial), Jim Lovell's book about the Apollo 13 moon mission who's title I don't remember now, And test pilot and first man to break the sound barrier Chuck Yeager's book by the same title..........i.e. I Don't Remember | | Heroes | Anyone who has the balls to live their own lives as they see it without the need for validaton of others.
People who have pushed the envelope of danger in pursuit of anything known or unknown.
People who refuse to settle for less than......
And until recently I never thought I woud say this, but in hindsight and as I have grown older and been able to get past some of my childhood resentments, the list would be incomplete without mentioning my dad! |
