The Story
Let's talk about everyone's favorite killer... Cancer. And let's talk about a specific type of cancer. It's a painful cancer to talk about for a guy. It effects a guys favorite body part to have. It's Testicular Cancer. Yes, you heard me right.
"My Man Cancer Story" is Lyle T. Nelson's story about his fight with this cancer. Let him take you on his journey from the time he found out about his cancer to the time he was cured. Laugh with us as he takes this stressful situation and fills it with humor, because that's the only way to deal with death. Cancer is not the happiest desease. Cancer kills alot of people. But you might as well have some fun along the way. So enjoy life as it goes on, and as Lyle likes to say "Grab life by the nut!"
This story started off as a one man show in Rogue '06. It was Lyle's first production in the Rogue. After volunteering for the Rogue he decided to take on the Rogue with something near and dear to his heart. He performed it under the name LTN Productions. He has also performed at a church near Oakhurst, California. When Rogue Year Around came around he turned it into a two-man show. He now has an assistant on stage with him to make the show run a little smoother. With the help of his assitant, Steven Wilcox, it's sure to be an enjoyable experience. Come check it out before it's too late... it might be a learning experience.
Steven Wilcox Cancer Message
I really like when we do this show. It's a very important message I think. Especially since cancer is a plauge on my family and friends. I recently had my step-mom die indirectly from her cancer. My dad had a little fight with a cancerous mole that luckily was able to be removed without any complications. I've had an aunt die from cancer. If cancer didn't exist I would know my parents first born son. He died when he was 5. My older sister was the only one of us alive when he died. She was 2 or 3. I've had a grandfather and a step-grandfather die from cancer as well. I think it's important to talk about cancer. People might then realize they need to get checked out to make sure they don't get cancer, or get found early enough to treat it.

CANCER AWARENESS
Why do we seem to focus on Breast Cancer? We even have a month designed for it. Breast Cancer is not even the number 1 type of cancer that kills women. In the USA more women die from Lung Cancer than Breast Cancer. Lung Cancer gets the least ammount of funding when it comes to per-death funding but yet it kills more people than any other cancer, men or women. Pancreatic Cancer, the most common cancer gets the least ammount of money when it comes to each new case of it. Breast Cancer gets the most ammount of money when it comes to both, per new case and per death funding. The money given to Breast Cancer research needs to be reduced to give it to other cancer research. Pancreatic Cancer can be very deadly if you get it, along with Lung Cancer but they seem to get the shaft. They are more deadly than Breast Cancer. Also men are 40% more likely (according to The Independant.. a UK news source) to die from Cancer so why don't we spend more money saving the guys since they are most likely to die? Spending so much more money on Breast Cancer research doesn't help the most ammount of people since men mostly die from cancer and Breast Cancer isn't the number 1 killer of women, Lung Cancer is.
And did you know Septemeber is Prostate Cancer month? Probably not since everyone seems to care about Breast Cancer and that over shadows other cancers.
If you have any thoughts on what I've said, feel free to tell us. Or if you have a cancer story you want to share, go ahead. We're all ears. Please check out our show. We hope you come and check us out when we perform in the Rogue Festival this March.
